I am so anxious I could barf. I got Becca's results back. Everything was normal except for her hermatocrit level which was slightly elevated at 61, normal ends at 55. The vet wants to do a retest in three weeks, and make decisions then. It could be fine, have to keep telling myself that. If it goes up the possibilities are scary. I should not have looked them up in the Internet.

The vet said not to do the rally trial we are entered in this weekend. I'm assuming no agility class either. I think I'll try for calm and happy. Though with Becca happy has always meant busy. Positive thoughts please.

Lots of positive thoughts Beccas way!!!!

Lots of positive vibes and thoughts for Ms. Becca!! I hope she gets better soon!

Normal is 37 to 55 so that's only about a 10% difference from normal.

I get blood work done a couple times a year at least for a chronic medical issue and my doctor has always said that small differences like that are rarely an issue; if they are isolated (meaning other levels are normal) they don't even usually follow up.

Differences from the normal range can BE normal for some individuals. Try not to panic.
From http://www.thirdstreetvet.com/nss-folder/cehandoutfiles/Hemorrhagic...

"The blood count of affected dogs is characterized by an extremely high hematocrit (red blood cell count). Most normal dogs have a hematocrit of 35-55%, while dogs with HGE may have hematocrits well above 60%. The elevated hematocrit provides the veterinarian with an important diagnostic clue that the dog may have HGE"

Notice it says "well above 60%."

The waiting is ALWAYS the hardest...sending positive thoughts your and Becca's way!

Lots of positive thoughts headed your way.  I know it's hard to stay calm but you need to for Becca, remember they are sensitive to how we feel.  She won't understand why you are upset just that your are.  Please keep us posted.

I also want to barf when I hear bad test results. Why do we focus on the scary thing? Because we love our dogs so much. So try to think a different way. 21 is a magical number. 21 is the number of days to make or break a habit. 21 days is the number that a body takes to get chemistry back in order after upsets. I read that body bounces back quickly from various ailments, but it really takes 21 days to be normal again. If it was a life threatening problem, vet would be right on it. 21 days is giving Becca time to rest and heal herself. So you and Becca should kick back and relax for 21 beautiful spring days. Everything will be alright. Weekend is coming. Enjoy it with your baby and keep us posted. <3 <3 <3 to you and Becca.

Thanks for all of the support. My anxiety is up and down, but I'm handling it better. I have tomorrow off and will stay home with her. I took a personal day for the rally trial and decided to keep it. We will have a quiet day at home and I'll do some paperwork here. Becca is a little more active than she was. Still nothing wrong with that corgi appetite either. Let's hope the worst is over.

I have to say online medical research is a blessing and a curse. It has answered questions, but boy can it crank the anxiety.

PRAYING for Becca!
