I'm pretty confused- I have googled this and googled this and have a vet appointment in a few days regardless, but I'm curious as to what this is.
I don't think it is reverse sneezing because it isn't forceful and he lays down when he does it... and it's seemingly random.

You know that sound the blood pressure cuff makes when you get it pumped up? It's that odd sound. He just got his vaccines last Saturday, so could this be it? He doesn't hack, or cough, just this pathetic little weezing sound while he is on the floor. And he acts like his normal healthy self too.

We keep it pretty cold in here, could that be it too? It didn't start happening until Monday, though.

Any ideas would be nice.
Thanks.

Tootsie does the same thing - less and less as she gets older. I think it is a Corgi trait as I have seen it posted quite often.
I think it is probably reverse sneezing.
Yup, sounds like reverse sneezing to me. Most dogs aren't "forceful" about it, most don't even seem bothered by it.
That sounds like reverse sneezing to me. Roxi makes the same noise (And thank you! I've been trying to figure out a way to explain it to people!).

Not sure what it is but its nothing to worry about. If you're already going to the vet and are still curious it never hurts to ask. I wouldn't make a vet appointment for just that though.
Haley does it too! When we get ready to go outside she does that "reverse sneeze" thing! Good show on giving us a name! I just figured it was another quirkey corgi trait~
Noodles went through a reverse sneezing spell for about a year (he probably had 10 of those in that 1 year period). I couldn't figure out what brought it on, but sometimes it would last for a few minutes and you could tell he was getting worried because it looked like he couldn't catch his breath. I had called the vet and they asked me to document what he was doing at that time, the date and how long it lasted for. Like I said, a couple times scared him and a couple times scared me because I couldn't get him to stop. Thankfully, he hasn't had an episode for about a year (let me go knock on wood). We couldn't seem to pinpoint what brought it on either, but he hasn't done it lately. For my own piece of mind, if I'm worried over something, I ask Noodles vet.
I haven't tested it but somewhere I heard petting the tip of the nose gently stops em.
I was told to cover the end of the nose in order to block them breathing from their nose and this forces them to open their mouth in order to breathe. I wasn't informed on that "trick" until after Noodles had had a few of them, but it works every time. They don't really appreciate it, but it stops them from making that awful sound.
Now, I can't wait to try this. Wish I had read this post before last night. I'll try it the next time my female goes into one of these fits.

Thank you for the information!
Lilo has had a couple of spells like that! Of all the Corgi's I have had, I have never seen/heard anything like it. Lilo will usually do it in the middle of the night and it is startling because she'll do it out of the blue for 10 seconds or more. It is a strange sound... Lilo never acts like it is uncomfortable. I feel better about it after seeing the responses to this discussion.
I was never too worried just because it has only happened 3-4 times.... but always wondered what the heck it was!
I heard pugs do this a lot as well because they have short breathing tubes and what not. I had heard if you turn them upside down it will stop the reverse sneezing immediately. Never had the chance to try it because Midas has never had it but I guess it's worth a shot if it's really bothering them. I'm sure they will wonder what the heck you are doing to them! lol
All our corgis have done the reverse sneeze also.We found that if You cover their eyes with Your hand,it makes them
focus better and quit it.Rubbing their throat at the same time also seems to help. We've had ost of them grow out of it,but a couple haven't.
