Okay this is most likely me being super paranoid but I figured I'd ask, just in case. So Orion's right ear started coming up about a week ago then two days ago it began to droop. His left ear has yet to do anything. He's 10 weeks old and my worry is that rather than drooping back down the way it came up, it's flopping to the side. I know corgi ears are up and down all over the place but for some reason I'm afraid it being drooped over like that will cause the cartilage to form that way and make him have a funny ear-crease. When he lays on his back his super-floppy left ear lays down into what adult corgi ears look like but the right one lays down and still has that crease. When should I worry about taping? Fourteen weeks? I'll still love my Orion even with screwy ears but perky ears are one of my favorite corgi physical quality so I'd like him to have them if I can do something about it.

I never had this problem but most people suggest adding some cottage cheese to his food to up his calcium intake right now while he is in the height of his growth stage. The ears should come back up but sometimes you have to tape them.
For the past week and a half he's been having a big spoonful of yogurt or cottage cheese every morning. I had heard that helps and decided to use it since the breeder said that her pups usually have their ears up at 6 weeks and it made me a little worried. Is ten weeks too young to tape? I thought I'd try it out tonight and see if it helped a little
My Jordan's ears wern't taped till he was almost six months but they were in tape 1 week and have stood up ever since. Teagen's ears were up from day 1 almost. It's so cute to look at her pics. when she was 4 weeks with those pointy little ears =)

I taped them myself after looking around at pics. of tape jobs I used gauze underneath the masking tape. But I've seen pics of much better tape jobs since I've been on this site. Kinda whished I found this site sooner but it did the job.
lol, that is totally a "Why are you doing this to me" face!! Super cute!!
It looks as if his ears are attempting to lift and they just are not quite getting it. As someone mentioned calcium is a big deal at his age. If the floppy ear deal persist you can tape his ears.....No it will not warp him for life. There are instruction available for the tape procedure...We did not tape in the same method as Christy (pictured below). It is NOT painful but slighly comical looking. I would not let my husband take pictures of out little boy with his GIANT ears taped. ^-^
That's reassuring, I've been feeding him cottage cheese or yogurt every morning for the past week, I think that's what helped the ear start coming up in the first place, I was just worried about how it was folded. I taped his ears and I'm going to leave the tape on just for tonight and see in the morning if it helped a little bit then I"ll go from there. He's still ten weeks so I'm not super worried but after seeing one sort-of up and one totally down for a week I'm ready for them to be up haha
I had similar problem with Lucy at that age. After several tries, I taped a simple plastic cable tie to the back of her ear with a wide piece of masking tape. That lifted the ear, and the tape fell off after about a week and the ear stayed up. After another week it fell back down, i repeated the procedure and the ear has stayed up since.

That is very similar to the method that we used to tape. I have also heard of using a straw cut to the length of the upright ear and taping around that with MASKING TAPE, or using a popsicle stick. We used masking and taped his entire ear upright and formed it in an "oyster" shape, giving it the natural look of an ear. My husband is insisting on taping our grown corgis ear so you can see. You can kinda funk up their ears if you don't tape right. He is now taping our female...big boy can run to fast now. You will likely need to leave the tape on for a few days and change when it gets dirty. It took about 2 weeks because we would give his HUGE ears a rest for a day and retape. Also message his ears it increases blood flow. DISCLAIMER----No Animals were harmed, humiliated but not harmed, in the making of these pictures...HAHAHAHAHA ^-^

Thank you SO much! This is super helpful. I think I'll wait maybe another week or so and see what happens and if theres no natural progress by then I'll tape them. I taped them last night with the roll-up the ears method (I went to bed before I read your post) but took it off this morning before I got up for work because I had dreams of taking the tape off and his ears were permanently rolled up, ha! The pictures are extremely helpful so thank you thank you thank you and I'll have to take pictures of Orion when/if he gets taped next week.
dont wait too long if you want the ears to go up. I got my dog at 4 months and was told it was too late to tape hers so her ears are down. She is beautiful and I love her, but if you have your heart set on the ears you probably have to tape them.
Look at how cute this little guy is. Ears up or down he's an angel!!
