My corgi's tail is docked so I was just curious what is the difference between the two. We are talking about getting another corgi in the next couple of months. Moose tries chasing his docked tail all the time. Is there any pictures to show the difference between a docked tail or un-docked tail?
Interesting, I wish they would breed the tail out and just not dock the corgis for appearances.
I went by our corgi's tail and I can clearly see where he has a scar and was docked. It was an interesting feet to look at the end of his tail, he was thinking I was trying to play. I would love him even if he had a tail. I feel they should be like other countries and not focus on the docking as much as we do.
The vet informed me today that it is a natural dock, and she said she could feel the bone structure in the tail. She said it was rounder at the end, and is a bit longer than what someone would have docked it at. She also said it moves differently.
This is interesting, I'm going to have to ask our vet about it - Moose can move his tail and it goes a mile a minute but i've never seen other corgi's move their bob tail. He can also move his whole butt and tail at the same time, Lol.
I have not commented before because I like them with or without a tail. Sparty has a stump that he was born with (undocked) and it is cute when he wags it. Izzy came from a breeder that shows and has nothing but a very cute butt. However, I have noticed that Izzy regularly needs washing back there due to lingering "waste" and Sparty never does even if he is having issues. On that basis alone I would consider a Pem with a tail or natural dock a good idea. My understanding was that originally tails were docked to show they were a working dog so no tax had to be paid on them but I don't know why it did not effect the Cardigans.
That's interesting, Bev. I wonder why there might be a cause-and-effect relationship? Sidney (who has his tail) has never ever needed a butt-wiping, even with upset tummy. When we walk with our docked friends, those corgis often need a wipedown, and I read here how baby wipes are a necessary thing to keep handy. Hmmm...
@ Bev, this is what I understand also about why they were docked! I never thought about why a Cardi isn't but they were separated by mountains...I believe and maybe they "laws" were different!
