Since I am only a few weeks into being an owner I am taking a survey about which brands of food are preferred. My vet recommends purina one puppy food and that is what I started feeding. Now I am reading that this is "junky" full of undesirable ingredients as are many seemingly good foods. I have been reading about Blue Buffalo and Innova. Any thoughts?

wow picky corgi, is that even possible? I would faint if I saw my dogs spit something out, lil bastard will eat spinach!
So, Lucky is allergic to lamb, duck, POTATOES, and more, I would have to look it up. Potatoes seem to be in a lot of foods. We are feeding a food from the Big R, he seems to do OK on it but Sonny does not like the lo cal brand of it, well he is not losing weight and prefers Lucky's food. I was going to look up the name of it, but bag is in the garage, too far to go. I think I looked at the feed store and TOTW, maybe it was Blue Buffalo, had potato, I could be wrong. Since i don't drive, I need to be able to buy the food for both boys at the same store. I guess i need to do some more checking, look up our current food on the website for foods.
TOTW does have sweet potatoes and other potatoes...I just checked.
Never heard of Red Flannel but there are many good foods out there! Try it and see what works!
Thanks for checking Jane! Saves me a trip to the feed store, we won't need bird seed for a while!
Murphy loves Taste of the Wild because its grain free and he loves the different flavors. He's got grain allergies that we didn't even know about till we had to switch his food to something that would suit his needs and Taste of the Wild was it. I would recommend it to anyone especially since I think a lot of dogs have grain allergies. I also really like that its for all life stages.
My 7- and 8-month-old Cardis eat Chicken Soup for the Dog Lovers Soul Adult kibble mixed with Innova Adult canned food; I fed them the same brands in puppy formula until the youngest was five months old. I also feed my cats the Chicken Soup food.

Bottom line is that you should do your research on what to look for in a quality dog food (Whole Dog Journal, etc.), and then see what works for your budget and your dog. I fed my animals Purina brands for years because as a child, Purina "chows" were all we ever had in the house. It was not until we got our Corgis that I became educated on better food options for our animals. I just feel better knowing the little guys are getting wholesome meals. Good luck!
I was thinking about Chicken Soup food. Hana is 4 months old. How did you know when to switch to adult formula?
Jon Farleigh's breeder told me to switch between 5-6 months old because the excess protein/fat in puppy food can cause painful growth spurts (growing pains aka panosteitis). When my younger pup Dewi reached five months, he was growing like a weed and developed a foreleg limp, prompting me to switch to adult food right away. (My vet x-rayed and examined him, but could find nothing wrong.) After two weeks, the limp was gone and we have had no problems since. I was nervous about the boys missing out on nutrients in the puppy food, but they are both still thriving, and best of all, they are growing much more evenly.

There are lots of good holistic foods on the market. Chicken Soup food was available to me locally (I'm rural), which is what prompted me to try it first. It also helps that the price is reasonable. I feed Innova canned also because Dewi's breeder fed it and I like the ingredients. I tried Chicken Soup canned puppy, but my older pup wasn't too fond of it.
Thanks for the reply!
Hi Hana...sounds like that's another good choice , you would want to go with large breed puppy or stay on the puppy for a few more months. I just sent you a message.
Thanks!
