I also have a question concerning male corgi weight.  When Solomon came to me he had just been fixed, the family that owned him before me said that he got 2 cups dry food per night and nithing else.  I feed him 1 1/2 cups of dry and 1/2 cup of veggies.  The vet saw him about a month ago and he said that Solomon looked fine.  That he was in good shape he said that Solomon weighed around 35 lbs.  If ya'll will look at his pictures he is not an average size corgi, he is "beefy".  Even when I first saw him around all the other corgis there he was bigger than the rest.  Give me some opinions please, I don't want the heartache of seeing him with back problems.  Been there, done that and don't want to revisit that again.

What is his height at the shouders and length from his chest back??? That will give us an idea as if he is larger than standard and would weigh more plus if he is heavy boned would make a difference. My dogs all get about 11/2 cups per day I feed mine a handful 3 times a day. The veggies are a great thing:)
Waffle weighs 31 pounds and he is still underweight! He's a big dog.  He's at least 15% longer than most corgis, and about 12.5 inches at his shoulders.  A good check of his condition is to press on his ribs.  If you press lightly on his ribs and you can feel them, then he's a good weight.  If you have to press hard or can't feel them at all, he needs to lose some pounds.

Corgis are tough to judge by pictures!  The rib thing is the key, but Jack will put on weight over his loin which doesn't effect the ability to feel ribs at all.

Based on the two pics of him looking out through the deck gate (very cute!) I think he could probably be brought down just a few pounds.  It's not that he's heavy, more so that Corgis are best kept on the thin side.

You are better off looking at the "air" view. Most vets will have photos of the indentation before the hips that should be just before the hips. Corgis have quite a variance in height so the actual pounds sometimes do not tell the whole story.
Ok, what I will do is try to get him still to measure and get a picture from over head.....I can feel his ribs when I press lightly, so that is a good thing right?  Ya'll I am so trying not to become obsessive over his weight, but ya'll know that a fixed corgi puts on the weight faster.  I have cut out all his treats except for 3 little pieces of pupcorn per day.  I let him chew bones like the "Butchers Bones"  He can chew them but can't eat them.  When I get those measurements I will post them.  Thanks for the tips, ya'll are wonderful!!!!
