drinking out of cups

Edan is starting to get on my last nerve. Not only is it annoying for me but its bad for his health. Edan has started to drink out of cups and glasses that are sitting on tables. usually it is water or coffee but im afraid hes going ot get into alchol or chocolate milk or something. He only does it when we step away for a minute, like i went from the living room to the kitchen to throw a pizza in the oven and the 30 seconds it took me by the time i got back my coffee cup that was 3/4 full was empty. i never catch him doing it so i cant tell him no so how do i get him to stop?

Bear does this too. The fact that he does it when I'm out of the room tells me he already knows it's bad. I had to trick him, I leave the cup on the table, pretend to be going upstairs, then when I'm out of sight I stop. When I hear him lick the liquid, I pop back around the corner and say NO. Good news is, in our house it only lasted about two weeks. Then he was over it.

Good suggestion on tricking him into drinking and then popping back into the room. The other option is to not leave stuff where he can get it; Jack won't usually scale tables but Maddie will try to climb on furniture to get to stuff if she wants it so I have just developed the habit of not leaving things on end tables/ coffee tables if I'm out of the room.

I have always felt that my dogs make me a much neater person! We have a doberman too so nothing is safe at my house.

Corgis are so smart and so curious it is a good idea to try and be one step ahead of them. Realize what they might do and prevent it from happening...especially if it is bad for their health. And, yes my little guy makes me a much neater person, too.
