im not sure what is on teddy but on his front leg he has an oval red circal that is flaky on the edges and on the side of his leg where its close to the belly he has little red bumps. they are not flaky and these spots do not itch. although about 2weeks ago i noticed he had little red bumps on his tummy/groin area and i seen 2fleas. those spots itched so i was thinking possibly a flea allergy?? does anyone have a dog with a flea allergy and is there a cure for it?

I have gone through the previous discussions but I didn't see anything

If it is a flea allergy, you might find this link useful.  It's the Merck Vet Manual entry for flea allergy and lists the treatments that are used.  There is no "cure" for it, but there are ways to relieve symptoms.  I've never had a dog with a flea allergy, though, so I'm not sure that this is the problem you're dealing with.

thank u for the link, it has some great info
Rebecca,    My Sparty is highly allergic to many things including fleas. The specialist we saw said that most dogs are a little allergic to fleas which is why they itch. We give Sparty allergy shots once a month and he has to have the topical flea preventative once a month also. Is Teddy on a flea preventative? Once the fleas have been treated on the dog you really have to do your house too because they can live quite a while off your dog and will lay their "larvae" which will hatch a new generation. Talk to your vet because they can quickly over run your house. Nasty little bugs!

hi Bev, i agree these bugs are very nasty. teddy is on K9 advantix 2 and it works great up until a week and half be fore the month ends where i am suppose to give him another dose. then i give him a bath with adams flea and tick shampoo and wait about 3days to apply the next dose. the cats are on purrr subscriptions plus. its cheap but that is the only flea meds that work and dont bother there skin.

i vacuum a lot and i have had to bomb the house before because when we first moved in our yard had fleas but we were waiting on the movers with our things so there was nothing i could do for about a week. when they got here i had to wash all our cloths, bomb the place, spray and steam clean. i though the problem was gone but the fleas here are pretty bad along with ticks=/

Hi Rebecca, would you mind taking a few pics? Make sure they are focus.

hi Sam i tried taking some pics but my camera is broke and when i take the pcs on my phone u cant really see them so i found some pics on line similar to it. ***please note though the pics are worse than what teddy has*** but it was the closest to what he has

this is what he has under his arm but he is not losing hair or does not itch: http://www.organic-pet-digest.com/red-rash-and-bumps-on-dogs-belly-...

http://fleaticks.us/fleas-on-your-do  this is the one that is flaky around the edges and is in the front of his leg. i know that its talking about fleas but they dont itch or bother him so i am confused

Hi Rebecca, thank you for the pics. It's definitely an allergic reaction, could be fleas or plants, if it doesn't itch / as bad, mostly likely plants. A few weeks ago I got poison ivy / oak sap from my dog's fur, I didn't notice until I looked at myself in the mirror, a quick oatmeal bath / benedryl / ice took care of it. Keep the area dry and free from moisture. Make sure you check with your vet before giving your dog diphenhydramine (original benedryl white tab with nothing added), some dogs can be allergic to it.

thanks Sam for your help:) i hope u feel better as well! poison oak is not fun.

Oh...poor baby! Fell better soon Teddy!
