I am picking up my baby in a week and a half and I've been having my breeder send me lots of pictures. My baby has white all the way around his back on his shoulders and it connects from his face to his back. I know corgis lose their white as they get older but how much? I love how much white he has. He also has a cute little spot on his head that my mother is IN LOVE with and I keep having to remind her it may not exist as he gets older.

How much white did you dog lose as he got older? And about what age do they stop changing color?

I attached a picture of him at about 3 weeks and at about five and a half weeks to show how much white he has right now

My Molly kept all her white marking. The only thing that changer in her coat was her colored hair. The white markings looed a bit more defined when her hair got darker. I have noticed many corgis keep all their white markings.
Hope not.
Actually, the white remains constant, I think. On tris, some of the black fades to brown/red on face and legs.
Yay! I had heard that the white areas would get smaller and I've heard of spots on the head disappearing so I'm glad they may not. It makes his face not-so-symmetrical but I like all the white.
those pics are TOO CUTE! i love Corgis! i'm kind of glad i live in a place where i can only have one, b/c i can only imagine how many i'd have if i were free to buy and adopt at will...i'd be eaten out of house and home...

whoa, sorry, i lost focus. my Heidi didn't lose any white at all. she's not a tri, but she's a red/white and she kept all of it. in fact her fur didn't change color all that much but what did, got lighter. she was sold as a "sable and white," but she actually ended up being a sort of gold and white...except that's not a color in the Corgi world, so she's classified as red/white.

clear as mud? i'm tired (i have a new baby) and should probably not be allowed to write things after 7pm at night, they come out a little weird sometimes. congrats on the adorable baby and i really don't think his coloring will change very much.
Mine did not lose any white.
The white on her forehead will most likely get narrower. When her head grows the white will not get bigger. As for her neck and other areas...this usually stays the same! If I have time later I will send some pics for you to see!
i have heard this too but i dont think he will lose all his white, if he does it will be very little. when teddy and his brothers were born they all had stripes but his brothers all had the white on the back of there heads and they kept it but teddy was the only one to keep his white strip
The only real change Roxi had was her christmas tree isn't so christmas tree anymore on her neck lol (that was her breeders name "christmas tree puppy") and her fur went from really really dark red/brown to a lighter coloring. I'm wondering though if thats just because we hang outside a lot.
My pups did not lose any of the white, they did lighten a little as they got older. When we first got them they had a little bit of black on their back, but that has all gone. They are now all sable and white.
Midas's got slightly more narrow at the top of the head but the rest remained.
When I was looking for my corgi, I found a flickr page where a guy had taken pictures of his pup every week or so after he got her to show how she changed. I decided to do the same thing for Pooka to help others out:

this is Pooka at the breeder's (I think 4 weeks):

she's the one by her mom.

As you can see, its like... the white doesn't change size, but the body does. So her stripe gets more narrow because she grows and her stripe does not grow proportionately. Also, they have short hair as puppies and the body hair gets much longer so the collars can kind've get altered looking. I think if he has a spot, he will keep the spot. =)
I tried to fix this but I guess it didn't work. It should all be on the flickr page though
