Sorry about the typos --- I need stronger glasses, I guess! The o's look like a's.

Just joined this group. Sophie has mellowed somewhat with age but when we first got her from a rescue group we wondered what we had done.

A couple weeks after bringing her home and letting her settle in, we decided we'd leave her home alone gated in the kitchen while we went out to eat. She had been behaving beautifully and we thought it would be fine. We left her crate in the kitchen with the door to it open so that she could have the security of her "bedroom" if she felt the need. It was a pretty big crate and she loved it.

We enjoyed a nice meal and came home expecting to see a sleepy puppy and probably a piddle puddle or two. I went in first and peeked around the corner to the kitchen. Hmmm--- I thought I'd left the crate in there. As I walked into the kitchen and saw the crate on the other side of the room, my first thought was, "Someone broke in while we were gone---and where is Sophie??!!!" As my brain cought up to my eyes, I realized what had happened. Our underweight little rescue pup had managed to push the crate across the kitchen, push a kitchen chair up next to it out from under the table, climb onto the chair and onto the crate, then up onto the counter. She was comfortably seated IN the kitchen sink with her paws on the counter, happily chewing away on a bag of treats we had left out, never dreaming that our doggy with the 4 inch legs would ever be able to get up onto the kitchen counters. Oh dopey us! And so it began...

no, she feels repentant. or she has some G.I. problem.  ;)

Corgis don't do repentance.  They only feel bad about getting caught. ;-)  This shot was taken a couple of hours after the mouse fatality.

There is an article in the FAQ's about the dangers of bags, and based on what I have read on the internet they have killed all kinds of dogs, not just stubbies.
