I was on line looking for corgis and found a website that I really liked. I called to see how much she charged for her pups. I wasn't really looking for a puppy but wanted to have a breeder lined up. After talking to her for long time, she told me she gives her females away to a good home when she is done breeding them. Sally was due in the beginning of December but had a hard time with her last delivery, so if she had any trouble she told me she wasn't going to breed her anymore. Being that our male is 8 and has a bad hip she thought an older dog with be good for us. Anyway she lost her pup so we drove and picked her up the end of December. She is very timid but is really coming around!

We adopted Henry from Hearts United for Animals in Auburn, Nebraska (about an hour away from Omaha). They had rescued him from a puppy mill where he had lived for about three years. He was, of course, emotionally scarred and very untrusting. His eyes just looked dead inside - he had been so hurt, mentally and probably physically. It took a lot of patience and love, but he finally learned to trust people (it took him a little longer with my husband). After four years he is still skittish sometimes around weird noises and does not like change, but he has become a sweet little character. My other dogs really did most of the work in helping him actually learn how to be a dog. He had no idea how to play, had never had toys. He was scared of toys at first and it took him about six months to play with one. I about burst into tears the first time he did! I still consider him my little miracle and would do it all over again in a second.

The LA County Baldwin Park Animal Shelter was the recipient of 20+ tricolor Corgi type dogs (some identified as Jack Russell or Sheltie but 70% very corgi in appearance) and others may have beagle as well in their mix. All related. Their breeder relinquished them to the shelter over the past week in 4 separate groups after they were found to operating an illegal kennel. All the dogs are set to be altered no later then 11/5 (this Thurs) at the shelter clinic and are available for adoption now and after 11/5 they can go directly home with adopters/rescuers/benefactors.
The website where you can see the dogs is http://www.sacred.petfinder.com or you can go to the Los Angeles County Animal Care and Control website and select Baldwin Park under dogs for adoption. They were turned in on 10/25, 10/27, 10/29 and 11/2.

Topaz is a "retired" breeding female from a mill -- now spayed and a great family member. Frankie was found roaming the streets in a town 100 miles south of me, and we're working to "calm" down his "survival instincts," as he loves to go roam and explore on his own thinking he can survive. Dooley is a foster from a kill shelter in Kansas awaiting adoption through ForPaws.org. They are all three great dogs, each with their own personalities, behavior quirks, and temperaments -- but that keeps me on my toes with them and never get bored!

In May, our cats had a follow up with our neighborhood Vet. As I was returning through the lobby with a carrier in each hand, a tiny red/brown blur sprinted between my legs, skidded to a stop and looked up at me with these huge soulful brown eyes. I was a goner. One 'Puppies for Dummies' book, two visitation sessions and three days later, we brought home our 'Bucket'. I knew nothing of Corgis before him. We are in love with his sweet and larger than life Corgi personality! We are so thankful to our local Vet for fostering him and his brothers which gave us the opportunity for Bucket to be ours.

Hi everybody,
A while back I got some great advice and encouragement from everyone about how to acclimate our new rescue corgi with our first rescue corgi. Everything seemed to have worked out. And... we're moving to the country where we'll all have plenty of room to run around. In fact, we may be able to help another homeless corgi. We're crossing our fingers that we can get our hands on him.

Love your trio! Also WELCOME!
I know what you mean about not being able to foster. We can't do it either but I still work with rescue. As a matter of fact, I've got two in my "care" right now; an 8 yr old red male that was turned in to a shelter. He's being boarded until I can get him to rescue and this weekend a 3 yr old male is coming under my care, given up by owner who said he just doesn't have the time to do what is right for the dog. He will be fostered until I can get him adopted or placed in rescue.
Keep up the work all you rescuers - we're needed!

Hi! This is Baxter! Baxter was rescued from the SPCA in 2002. He was turned in as a "stray at large" He was very thin and his coat very brittle and matted. It took a few months for Baxter to trust his new environment, be now he is SO HAPPY :)!! He doesn't know a stranger!! He is about 8 years old now. He LOVES everybody!! I can't imagine life without him now. Would love to meet any corgi owners in Dallas, TX!!
