Camden, my ever social loving 8 month old, is normally well behaved and if not, is easy to correct. Except for when it involves trimming his nails. He's always been a drama queen when it came to his…Continue

A friend of mine regularly takes her German Shepard, Mila, walking on some trails locally. She used to go with another friend with her Pitt Bull, but the dog was diagnosed with arthritis. Since she didn't want to go by herself, Camden & I got an invite.
I have to say, I am pleasantly surprised how well Camden has taken to hiking. On our normal walks, which are maybe 20 to 30 mins long, he'll lay down and force me to stop or even pick him up to take him home. Tonight we hiked for…

Funny story time!
Since I live in an apartment (and it has been so hot- stupid drought), I regularly take Camden to the local dog park in the evenings. This particular evening, Camden & I stayed on the little dog area of the park since Camden didn't seem to like a particular dog. He definitely was the big boy in comparison to the Yorkies and dachshunds.
At one point, a stuffing free toy was added to the mix. Initially, an eight pound dachshund named Bella had the…

Camden was thrilled to be at the vet as usual. And no, that is not sarcasm, he really does love going to the vet. In his excitement, Camden actually forgot about his leg. He was pulling on his leash as hard as he could. Once we got him calmed down, the doctor did a physical exam. Camden was quiet all the way through it until the doctor made him spread eagle. He didn't like that much. We also got some x-rays.
Thankfully, Camden has no damage to his ACL or ligaments. His hips and joints…

So, in the last month Camden has celebrated his first birthday, came down with some sort of eye infection that the doctor could not figure out, but the meds did fix the problem. I thought everything would be good to go until September for his yearly vaccinations... Guess not.
My poor puppy started limping late Thursday night. I checked his rear left leg, and he showed no signs of pain on contact. I restricted his movement through the weekend, and he was recovering when I took…

I canceled the Illinois Corgi Picnic due to the weather.
I wanted to make sure you knew so you did not drive to Freeport on Sunday.
I wrote the statement below and added it to the event's discussion....
Yes, we need to cancel the picnic. :(
The shelter manager wrote me yesterday and again today and stated that it is supposed to rain all weekend and that she just assumed that we would not be having the picnic this weekend. So I wrote and told her that we will cancel.
The weather now says.... Occasional showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 1pm, then a chance of showers. Temperature rising to near 64 by 10am, then falling to around 56 during the remainder of the day. South wind 10 to 15 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
So it will be windy as well as wet.
I like Stephanie's idea of sending a donation to Friend's Forever Shelter. I was thinking of doing that myself last night. Then the dog food, treats, and the paper towels I have purchased will go to my local shelter next week.
Sorry, guys. Mother nature did not cooperate this year.

Hope to see you at the Illinois Corgi Picnic! Last year was great fun and lots of good food. We got lots of donations for the shelter there as well.
I noticed you are from Normal , IL. Next year you should come to CORGI-CON. We had the first CORGI-CON May 19th this year. It was at the Urbana Dog Park. That is not too far for you. We had 23 Corgis, so I plan to do it again next year. Here is the link to the details from this year's flyer... http://www.mycorgi.com/events/corgi-con-in-east-central-illinois
Hope to meet you October 14!
