Sammie's mission.

Posted on March 22, 2013 at 12:21pm 0 Comments

Hey everyone Sammie had her first surgery on her right leg a week ago and as you may know she needs surgery on both legs. Well her left is doing even worse. She hasn't been raising much money on corgipals lately for us to afford these surgeries. Please spread the word so we can get both her ACL surgeries payed for! The vet won't let us get the surgery without paying it afterwords. Her link for fundraising money will be below. Please donate or spread the word!!!!…

Hi Elizabeth!

While you are waiting for more donations to help pay for surgery number two (and I did contribute to Sammie's account) why not do some other fundraising activities that might help raise more cash, for example a dog biscuit bake sale, you can advertise to friends and neighbors, and maybe a yard sale?  And what about putting the second surgery on a CC for the time being, and then paying it off when you have gotten enough contributions.  Your vet must have a heart of stone to want it all up front... :-(

Here's a link to some places that you might want to look into to see if you qualify for financial aid for the surgery. http://www.theamericandogmag.com/non-profit/resources-veterinary-bills-financial-assistance

you'll have to do some research on these as I don't know much about them. I just learned about them myself.

You could also try CorgiPals. They've helped A LOT of corgis.

We have used CareCredit through the years to allow us to make payments without interest (if paid off by a certain time - 3 months, 6 months, 12 month options depending on the vet).  You could try that as an option too.

don't give up. where there's will, there's a way.

Wow, that is tough.  Is she on any pain meds?  Might ask your vet if she can have some at a low dose to take the edge off.  ..You probably should if haven't already start giving her Dasequan to help the other joints on her other legs and to get a jump start so to say on promoting healing in the bad leg once she gets the surgery.

Zin was about 6 yrs when he blew his back(hind) left knee. I saw he limping first - it took 3 months before he would limp for anyone else and then during a dental did the test that confirmed he blew it.  I 'm sorry I don't remember what they called his surgery but basically they drilled a hole  his leg and using fishing line to hold it all together.  He has done really well. He is now 13 1/2 yrs old and still chases sticks, balls, and Frisbees- though he doesn't jump as high anymore.  We started Cosequen  right after the surgery then moved up to Dasequen when he was diagnosed with arthritis in his hips.  WE switched to Duralactin and Adequan in the last couple of years. Plus he gets Previcox( very low dose) should we be more active than normal.   I just bought a horse trough to begin to do water therapy  in the basement this winter.  Want to do all I can to help keep him a mobile as possible!!!

Thank you so much for the Christmas gift.  The boys are so happy.  We head for Key West tomorrow.and the boys plan to eat and play all day on the beach.

Thanks so much, we are heading over there on the 22nd.  I will let her know.  We are really enjoying spending the winter in Florida. The boys like the beach, took them awhile to understand the waves.  At home they spend their time in a lake, no waves and it tastes better

There are corgi breeders on the east side of the Cascades.  http://mycorgi.com/profile/Tracey75     I think there's a breeder near Cle Elum.

Ours came from Carrie Hale.  My neighbor has a lovely dog from Teresa Blakstad in Sandpoint.

Sammie sounds like a sweet fun loving dog. I grew up with a black Lab and then a yellow Lab and now we have the two corgis (our first). I imagine that is a wonderful mix!!! She's very cute!
