Profile Information

Hometown:
Manila, Philippines. Currently residing in Southern California
About Me:
I am a college girl working towards her Music Education degree. I give piano and classical guitar lessons on the side. I love corgis and the sounds corgis make. I think if corgis could sing, they can definitely carry a tune.
Welsh Corgi Breeder?
No
About My Corgi(s):
The first corgi I've ever owned is Faye Valentine. I rescued her from a careless breeder in Illinois. She's not spayed or housebroken, she's very obese and she has bald spots because of allergies. She's on her way to being rehabilitated.

Oh, and she's very camera shy. When she's scared, shy or unsure she folds her ears down. It's so hard to keep her still for a picture! Any tips for taking good pictures?

Faye is now 4 years old :)

**UPDATE 04/22/09**
Faye is doing much better. Her coat has improved, she's not so shy anymore and has been making those trademark corgi noises. She likes to make them when I play the piano or to wake me up in the morning. She still has some weight to lose still and learn how to be more social around other dogs at the park.

06/01/09 - NEW CORGI!!!

I just rescued a corgi from the Devore Shelter, which is a high-kill shelter. I was so lucky to have found her just in time. Most of the dogs had kennel cough and the conditions were horrible. I saw her eating food on the floor next to the other dogs' fecal matter. She ran towards me and tried to squeeze her face through the bars of the cage. I knew I had to get her out of there and give her a good home.

I named her Katamari. "Kat" for short. One of my favorite video games is Katamari Damashii which, roughly translated from japanese means "lump/mass of spirit/energy." She is approximately a year old. We will be working on potty training as soon as she recovers from being sedated after spay surgery.

The Faye Files

June 21, 2008 - The Corgi Rescue of Southern California just contacted me about two young males that are coming in soon. Faye needs a companion badly. All she does is lay around, and you know what they say about a dog that's all sleep and no play (actually no one says that but whatev)... They will be put into foster care and will be neutered and housebroken before I can adopt one of them. I'm really hoping Faye will regain her energy and zest for life soon.

June 20, 2008 - Found out that Faye actually has an allergy, not scabies or mites as I predicted. Her ears are shorter than other corgis because the edges have been ripped off. Poor girl! She's working on being crate trained and she's on a diet now.

Wilderness Dog checklist

Posted on July 30, 2009 at 5:02am 3 Comments

I'm taking Faye camping for the first time ever! She's not a very active dog if she's without her new friend Katamari (who is settling in well, except for a couple of fights that ended with me getting hurt). The other dog is more active, but very young and needs more training as she tends to run away. Faye is really good at staying by my side off-leash. I'm sure some of you have taken your corgis camping/hiking/etc (*ahem* John *ahem*). We'll be going to Lake Isabella with my boyfriend's… Continue

Another corgi, same high-kill shelter.

I found another Pembroke at the shelter where I got Katamari. I feel like I have this personal responsibility to take in any homeless Welsh Corgi I see... Does anyone want another corgi friend?? This little boy needs help and right away.…

I posted a few entries back that I'm adopting a 1yr old female Pembroke from the animal shelter. Well, this was her first day home. She was very groggy from being sedated for spay surgery. She wasn't her usual spritely hyper self, but she was still very loving. She did snap at my 4yr old Faye when she passed by. I was so surprised that Faye was so well-behaved. I praised her and pet them both at the same time. Katamari stole Faye's bed hahaha so sad.…

We have a new friend!!

Posted on May 30, 2009 at 2:00pm 8 Comments

I posted a blog entry last night about possibly adopting a 1yr old female Pembroke at my county's high-kill shelter. Faye and I went to go see her this morning and I fell in-love with her immediately. When they were in the social area they sniffed each other and didn't seem too interested in each other. I thought that was a good thing because usually Faye growls at other dogs (just the males, i think). When we went inside the office the new corgi, hyper and still a puppy, really, wanted to play… Continue

Rescuing a corgi from a high-kill shelter

Posted on May 29, 2009 at 11:30pm 9 Comments

She's listed as a "Welsh Corgi - Cardigan Mix," but if you look at her picture you can clearly see that she's a Pembroke. She's a year old and smaller than my 4yr old female. I have concerns because I've heard that two females usually don't get along, but I've found that Faye doesn't like males that much either. I'm going to the shelter tomorrow morning with Faye so we can meet her and possibly adopt her. Some of the dogs have kennel cough and the conditions are horrible. There have been… Continue

I had to stop by to say hi since your corgis have the cutest names! Much love for Bebop and Katamari Damacy. Being the geeky girl I am, I even made a cosplay costume of Ichigo from KD. Yeah, that's how I roll. lol Hope all is well and many corgi kisses to Faye Faye and Kat. <3

Your corgi's are beautiful! I'm so glad you rescued Katamari. I had such a hard time finding my corgi that to think these corgis end up in high kill shelters shock me! I enjoy your blog entries too!
