My husband's grandmother had a fluffy corgi named D'Buddy... he relocated to a nice family in NC when she passed away...

Blaze (got 5/3/08)-- did not blend in well with our family. Super alpha aggressive male, gave him back to his breeder (HARD decision, but right thing to do)

Merlin-- our new corgi baby!!!! Brought home 9/5/09... he is WONDERFUL!

I'm back....

Well, after a long hiatus, I am back on mycorgi.com!!

It has been a lonely life without a corgi in my house. After we gave Blaze back to the breeder, I went through a pretty long grieving period. I found another couple in my town that have a corgi, and when I saw THEIR corgi (who just happened to look like my first one, Andy, and have the same name as my second one, Max) I just lost it. Broke down in tears!!! Max, their corgi, gave me lots of corgi kisses and made me feel better. :-)

Now after much discussion, my hubby and I have decided to put in an application for corgi rescue. I faxed our application to the Corgi Rescue group of Atlanta... and am DYING to hear from them. D-Y-I-N-G!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wish us luck.. I've been having a lot of fun looking around on this site and getting reacquitanced!!!!

Blaze....

Posted on July 14, 2008 at 9:07am 13 Comments

Its been a long time since I've posted anything regarding Blaze. Sadly, we decided to give him back to his breeder. We had him for eight weeks, and it just seemed like no matter what we did, he continued his aggressive tendencies towards the children. As I mentioned previously, he was the alpha dog in his litter. I wish now that we had observed him with his litter prior to getting him, but that wasn't possible since there were only three pups and one was taken before we got there.

First Month!!

Posted on June 3, 2008 at 12:12pm 7 Comments

Wow-- hard to believe it's been a full month since we got Blaze!

We are LOVING him... no regrets whatsoever getting this little pooch.

He seems to be housebroken already! He knows to either jump up and down in my line of sight or come up and BARK in my face and I will get the hint and take him outside. When he does that-- he pees/poos right away! He is one smart litle bugger.

No other approach has worked for us with stopping his nipping/biting except... *drum… Continue

Vomiting/Diarrhea

Posted on May 29, 2008 at 8:39am 14 Comments

Well.

Mild hiccup in Blaze's first month at home. Last night he seemed really quiet (which is a huge red flag). I took him outside for the final pee/poo of the night. He threw up... it seemed to be mostly solid food, so I thought maybe his stomach just wasn't agreeing with him. He had been chewing a lot on a bully stick I bought for him two days ago. His stomach was really bloated, so I figured maybe between the bully stick and his regular food he just consumed too much?? He did poop… Continue

Microchipping

Posted on May 27, 2008 at 11:45am 8 Comments

Do any of you have a microchip in your dog?

If you do, at what age did you have it implanted?

I am seriously considering implanting Blaze with one, just for the peace of mind of knowing if he ever gets lost, the chances are good for him to come back to us.

I found this website:

www.homeagain.com

and there's a vet close to me that does the implantation for $40.

What do you think? Good or bad idea?? It doesn't seem to hurt the dog,… Continue

Hiding Treats....

Posted on May 26, 2008 at 10:49am 8 Comments

How interesting.

I've never actually had a dog that hid treats.. usually they snarfed them down as fast as I handed it to them...

Imagine my surprise when I went to Blaze's crate for the purpose of getting his mat for washing.. and found a puppy bone underneath, dead center....

How cute!! Seriously, folks-- he was saving it for a rainy day.

Do your dogs do this?? I think it's ADORABLE! I wonder where else he's hiding his treats...

Merline is SO CUTE!!! Bertie and Ethel wish him the best. Bertie also has a white stripe that goes all the way across his head, and people always comment on it when they see him. Enjoy your puppy!

You all have a real cute pup in Merlin. What a great idea to capture his first meal at home with a picture. Many happy days and years may you enjoy him~

Congrats on finding your pup, and I pray the minutes go by quickly until Sept 2. WE have decided to keep the dogs, and just see what happens with everything. When you love something so much, it is very difficult to part with them. We don't really think anyone could give our dogs as good a home as ours already have. Please put up pictures when you can. I can't wait to see your new baby.

You say such nice things! It might have been a bit crazy to add another dog, but it just seemed right. Thank you!

Oh, but she can get devilish at times! We actually worked on that at the vet (he trains also) and in class last night. She is actually from a breeder in OK, we met in Ennis, TX to pick her up. I found her through some friends oh hers on PWCCA. I've heard of a lot of backyard breeders in LA, but the only ones I found on PWCCA were in north LA. One of the two I found reccommended my breeder to me and the other didn't breed anymore. But, I am slowly hearing about corgis in the area that came from local breeders, but I don't have info about the breeders so they may be great for all I know, or not.

Your baby is absolutely adorable. What a gorgeous little tri pup. Congrats to you, he looks like he is a lot of fun. So little too, I miss those days, though the sharp puppy teeth on my toes not as much. Ah puppy days, loads of fun and frustration. Of course mine is still not out of the puppy stage either so I'm still there too hehe. Baxter sleeps like Blaze in that one picture all the time, he loves to be stretched out on his back. =)
