"Common wisdom says get a female.  My experience is that females tend to be more dominant, so I'd go with a male.....maybe just because I like their personalities better (usually) and they tend to be more easy going, in my experience. "

Second dog..should we get another male or get a female this time?

Gunny is 8 years old and we have been thinking about getting another puppy. Gunny seems to really enjoy running around and playing when other dogs visit( all have been females). We are just wondering what we should get..male or female? Anyong have an opinion or experience in this decision? The second dog is strickly for companionship. We are not interested in breeding. Gunny is neutered and very sweet natured. Has always been nonthreatening to other dogs.See More

Rag Weed Allergy

Posted on September 2, 2010 at 12:38pm 1 Comment

Had the Gunster at the vet this morning. Doc thinks he has ragweed allergy. Says that he has seen tons of dogs in the last 3 weeks with same thing. Red , itchy skin. He put him on Tamaril for a week to settle things down from the inside out. Anyone else have this problem? I tried taking care of it without meds for a week or so. Using Aloe Vera lotion and Burt's Bees Hot Spot salve...I guess it helped keep him from having open sores but over all his skin remained itchy and inflamed so now I…

Healing after ACL Surgery

Posted on August 4, 2010 at 3:25pm 6 Comments

Hi All,

My boy Gunny had ACl surgery 8 weeks ago. The repaired leg is obviously weaker and looks skinnier than the other due to muscle atrophy. I might be jumping the gun here, but I am concerned that I should be doing more to make him use the repaired leg more. We are still helping him up stairs but he goes down once in a while on his own. We are only doing very short walks and trying to keep him from his usual running around. Is there something I should be doing to force him to put…

Thank you! Aww I hope for a speedy recovery for Gunny♡. Conan is 8 months old. Everyone gets a kick outta him doing that. You can't say the word "hose" around him, he wont stop barking till he gets to play. We loved the picture of Count Gunny, even our 5yr old niece thought it was hilarious but she kept calling him Conan hahaha. Any Corgi she see's she thinks its Conan, so funny!
