Cute Corgi Merchandise!

I have been wanting to get a corgi purse and my search was going nowhere fast. Then I found this website based in England:

Pets Are Best

And I found just what I was looking for. I think it is so cute!

As a bonus they included this greeting card featuring a pair of fluffies:

I just had to share this website with… Continue

San Diego corgi meet up

This weekend we went to the San Diego corgi meetup at Rancho Bernardo park. There were about 50 corgis there, including a couple puppies and about 5 cardigans. There was frapping and herding like crazy! It had rained earlier than morning so there were plenty of muddy bellies. Most everyone got along and the pups were exhausted that afternoon.

Here is a link to a few pics:

If you can...

My Dad sent this to me and I wanted to share it with you folks:

Inner Peace

If you can start the day without caffeine,

If you can get going without pep pills,

If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,

If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles,

If you can eat the same food every day and be grateful for it,

If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you… Continue

Santa came! What Sidney and I got...

I hope you folks had a wonderful holiday! It was a nice Christmas here in San Diego.

Sidney's nametag was wearing off, so Santa brought him a new one, with the Bolt logo! It's very cool:

And way at the bottom of my stocking was a very pretty necklace with a pendant with a corgi on it. I kept trying to take a picture, but this is the best I could do. Naturally it looks best when lying up against Sidney!…

Sidney and the Sheep herding trial

Today we took Sidney out to have an instinct test for herding sheep. We were really excited and curious to see if Sid would know what to once he got into that pen with creatures he had never seen before in his life.

My daughter got into the pen with Sid and three sheep. That's her in the video. After Sid took a few moments to take in the glorious smells that were there. he actually took off after those sheep! He'd bring one back when it broke off from the other two, and took the… Continue

Favorite new toy

I found a new toy for Sidney (of course I spoil him!) that he's crazy about. It's called The Original Incredible Flump string ball by Sergeants. It's big (as big as Sid's head), soft and stringy. My other two dogs keep stealing it from Sid, so I think I need to go buy a couple more. I found it at Ralph's Supermarket for about $6.

Here's a pic of Sid protecting his toy from his "big brothers".…

Introducing...Daredevil!

We found a Halloween costume we just could not pass up. Two of my kids just worked as backstage crew for a local community theater production of "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow", so when we saw this online, we knew it would be perfect for Sidney. So this year he will be Daredevil, the mighty steed of the Hessian soldier otherwise known as the Headless Horseman! Bwa-ha-ha!…

Sidney's one reckless, lucky corgi!

Hi, it's me, Sidney, again.

I had quite a week. Some of you know I was in an accident on Monday this week. Me and big brothers Bruce and Chester were coming in from a walk, and I decided I was not done exploring. I got away from my Mom at the front door, and like a dummy I took off for the street. I didn't look at where I was going, I heard Mom and her Dad yelling at me - really loud - to stop, come back, but I didn't care. The wind was in my ears and it felt good to run so fast with… Continue

Sidney is a Canine Good Citizen!

Today is Responsible Dog Owner's Day, and our training school had a big event at their facility. One of the things they offered was a test to certify your dog as a Canine Good Citizen. It was a really long test, about one hour. My daughter decided to put Sidney into the test, even though at the young age of 15 months we were not sure if he was ready.

The good news is, he passed! He received a certificate from the AKC and a tag to wear on his collar with his name tag and license. I… Continue

The Return of Flat Dog

Greetings from way-too-sunny Southern California!

We're in a muggy heat wave here in San Diego. We left for our usual morning walk and I quickly realized it was going to be a scorcher. Our method we adapted was to go from shade spot to shade spot, where Sidney would immediately go into "flat dog" mode while Bruce waited impatiently. Our usual 45 minute walk took well over an hour with plenty of shade and water breaks.

Here is FLAT DOG near the end of our walk:…

Rattlesnakes - The New Enemy!

Today we took Sidney to rattlesnake avoidance training. Wow, it's hard to hear your baby yelp like that and become so scared, but he passed with flying colors. There are so many rattlers in our area that I feel better knowing that now he will avoid them!

The train in three phases. The first was Sight and Scent recognition. Sidney was very curious about the snake, but he… Continue

Mudhead!

Hi, this is Sidney the corgi again!

I went to the dog park last Sunday and had a lot of fun...until my mom decided I looked hot and she got...get this...water all over my head! She knows how I feel about WATER! Grr! Yeah sure I felt cooler, but I did not like the water. So as soon as she set me down, I found the biggest patch of dirt at the park and rolled and rolled in it, making sure to get all that nasty water off! Mom was yelling at me (and laughing at the same time), I don't know… Continue

Sidney's First Birthday

Today is the big day. Our baby boy Sidney is one year old! To celebrate, we took a nice long walk through the neighborhood, then we had birthday cake! We had gone to a local doggie boutique and bought a doggie birthday cake. It is carrot cake with peanut butter frosting, made with no white flour or sugar. All three of our dogs (and my kids) liked it a lot. It was so cute, decorated with little milk-bone cookies.

We bought Sid a couple toys too. One is just a fuzzy dot that squeeks,… Continue

"If I didn't have dogs"

(not written by me, but I loved it and wanted to share)

If I didn't have dogs

I could walk around the yard barefoot in safety.

My house could be carpeted instead of tiled and laminated.

All flat surfaces, clothing, furniture, and cars would be free of hair.

When the doorbell rings, it wouldn't sound like a kennel.

When the doorbell rings, I could get to the door without wading through fuzzy bodies who beat me… Continue

New Dog Park fun!

Hi everyone, it's Sidney the corgi!

Today we went to check out another dog park. See, our town does not have a leash-free park, so we get to drive to other towns and see what their parks are like.

Today we went to a park in Rancho Bernardo. It's about 20 minutes from home, but it was worth the time spent in the car! It was a nice big area, divided into three areas: one for big dogs, one for small dogs, and one for all dogs. We went to play in the all dogs area. I had such a… Continue

I'm NOT a water dog!

Well, at least not yet! Hi, it's me, Sidney the Corgi. I haven't written in awhile becasue I've been really busy with doggie school. Sometimes I have good days and Mom tells me how smart I am, and sometimes I'm a real brat! My teacher says I'm not ready for Canine Good Citizen class yet, darn it! That's OK, I'm still a young pup, so I can wait.

It was so beautiful here in Southern California this weekend, so the two old dogs and me got a trip to the park. It's a big wild place full… Continue
