as most of you know, i got ravioli about 2 weeks ago. at first i had some of the usual puppy-in-a-new-environment problems, but after a few days he was doing really well. i taught him how to walk on a leash and he learned his name and everything. the first 2 days i had him at my boyfriend's apartment, then i moved him to mine where i live with my roommate. this is where it gets sad.. =( not long after i brought him to my apartment, my roommate started complaining about her throat itching and…

First off, I want to thank everyone for their support and advice, it really helped to know that everyone went through the same thing. this is another long one but i hope you read it because i could still use some support! Ravioli did better yesterday after my first post and he seems like he's opening up to us a little bit. he seems to be eating normally now whenever i give him food and isn't as mopey--he seems to explore more when we're just sitting on the couch instead of laying around like…

let me first preface this by saying that this post will be long, but i ask that you please read because i really need some support from the community. please!!!
Ravioli came home saturday evening, and he seemed pretty ok with us (my boyfriend and i). we brought him back to the apartment and he explored a lot. the breeder said he hadn't used the bathroom all day (which was from before 9am to 630pm when we got him). we took him out a couple times that night and he still never went to…

that's his name and i'm sticking to it! the time is finally drawing near; the breeder is dropping him off saturday afternoon! i lucked out because she happened to be coming my way for a dog show and offered to drop him off so that i don't have to drive 8 hours to get him.i'm extremely excited and i've finished off my puppy shopping this week. if there is one…

so i've been thinking about names for a while, and ultimately i want something unique that not many people have. lately, i've been throwing around the name Ravioli. this is partly because i love eating ravioli and secondly because i think it's cute. i've gotten about a 50-50 response on who likes it and who doesn't. however, 2 of the most important people in my life, my best friend and boyfriend, don't like it! i know it's ultimately my decision because it is my dog and i can name him…

i've called 7 of them this morning. i left messages for 5 of them and spoke to one who had a receptionist who said they weren't planning on breeding any time soon. i also spoke to a breeder's crotchety husband. the conversation went like this:
"NO she's NOT here she's at a dog show in fort worth. she comes back monday."
well can you leaver her a message for me please?
"are you in houston?"
no i am not right now..
"it would be better if you just called…

thanks to a wonderful member here at mycorgi, i got a lead on a breeder in tennessee (6 hours away) who is selling red and white pems for $350-400 (much cheaper than the $1500 i was told yesterday from another breeder!) it was apparently an ad in the newspaper, so there's not much info that i know except that both parents are akc registered and so are the pups. i'm going to call today and get more info and hopefully this will be the one! the ad says the puppies will be ready in april. the…

and it was the scariest thing ever! it only lasted about a minute because she said she was in a meeting and would call back. i was so nervous! i'm anxiously awaiting her call back. does anyone have any advice on how to make a good first impression to a breeder over the phone? what are the right things to say? what do they like to hear in a first conversation? i have my list of important questions i would like to ask her, but i obviously can't start off by bombarding her with…

I almost feel like a crazy person because I've emailed so many people looking for a corgi. Did any one else email a lot of people looking for your corgi? If so how many? I'm just trying to make myself not feel as psycho, haha. I emailed all of them exactly one month ago today, with the exception of about 3 of them, and only one has emailed me back so far. However, she said she is going to BREED her dogs in July, meaning they probably won't be born until August and won't be ready to take home…

out of the 13 breeders (maybe 12..i've lost count!) i've emailed, i finally got a response! ironically, i emailed her yesterday and she emailed me back same day! i was quite shocked since it's been 3 weeks since i sent all of the others and haven't heard a thing. has anyone ever had any experience with Canuck Corgis?
the breeder's name is Debbie Cox (from Mississippi) and she breeds pems, cardis, and nova…

so on my seemingly never-ending search for a corgi, i stumbled upon a local forum website for the city i live in, and the original poster was asking if anyone had any experience in owning a corgi because they were considering the breed.
one of the replies really bothered me...
"I strongly suggest she consider another breed. My friend's mom bought one and the vet said "congratulations. You just bought the most hard headed dog on the planet". He was right. Wouldn't listen…
