so i've been thinking about names for a while, and ultimately i want something unique that not many people have. lately, i've been throwing around the name Ravioli. this is partly because i love eating ravioli and secondly because i think it's cute. i've gotten about a 50-50 response on who likes it and who doesn't. however, 2 of the most important people in my life, my best friend and boyfriend, don't like it! i know it's ultimately my decision because it is my dog and i can name him whatever i want, but i don't want people thinking "wow what a stupid name.." when i tell them my puppy's name! what do you guys think? cute or weird? keep in mind i want something original!

doesn't he kinda look like a ravioli??!

yay! i'm glad people like it. yeah i was thinking ravi for short. cheese stuffed ravioli is one of my favorite dishes ever so given his coloring it seemed fun and appropriate. plus i've never heard of a dog named ravioli so it's obviously unique! i can't wait until he comes home! just a few more weeks now =)

and Alison, i giggled when you talked about the looks you got at the dog park! i really like the name noodles too, but since i knew someone somewhere on mycorgi already had their dog named noodles, i had to have something else that i came up with completely on my own. it was sort of my inspiration. that and i was also craving some ravioli at the time X)

Go for it. I had a cat named Zuchini. I love original names. Becca came named so I decided to keep it. I was leaning toward a Fraggle theme. The cat is named Mokey.

Alison, you should look into calling him 'The Great Noodini' as well. :D

I'm not a big fan of the name Ravioli (I think it's got too many syllables, personally), but I love Ravi or just Rav. Jen's suggestion of Toffee is really lovely! Single or double syllable names seem to suit dogs best, just imo. :)

I can't say "no" to Ravlioli because my corgi's name is Noodles. Definitely test out nicknames because that is basically what you use anyways. Noodles is rarely Noodles, even when out in public and I need to get his attention it is either Noods or Noodleboy. My nephews came up with Noodsie and only they call him that. Most of the time Noodles is Noods and I realize that isn't the greatest nickname. You should see the look on people's faces when I call him that at the park. I have to make sure I tell them his name is Noodles and that "Noods" is just a nickname. Little kids love the name Noodles because he is named after food and I'm sure the name Ravioli will be a big hit as well. Whatever name you decide on, he is just precious.

Lol, meatball.  I like Ravioli, it's very unique!  People who don't like the name will warm up to it, I promise. :]

Ravioli wouldn't be my top pick, but that's because I prefer sweets to pasta.  :P  His coloring reminds me of custard or pudding, so I (personally) would be going with names like Butterscotch or Toffee.  In the right mood I might even go with Melon.  Like you have said, though, he's your dog and it comes down to what you like best!  :)

I love it. First, find out if you BFs are willing to go with it, even if it would not be their choice. They will get used to it! Then go outside and yell his name loudly and see if you are comfortable with it. I like Lawren and Teddy's idea of having a nickname in mind; Rav Rav 4, or Ravi are all cute. (I know a young man who is named Ravi, he pronounces it Rahvee). I tell people I named my tri Snickers after the candy bar because she has chocolate, caramel and a white fluffy center. Your pup can be a cheese ravioli!

I think Ravioli is an awesome name. You can call him Rav for short.
