My Big Adventure

April 27, 2012

Mum was at work and Daddy was getting dressed to go out so he let me out the deck door and I ran outside into the cool spring air.  We had been napping most of the day in our cozy, warm huddle on the TV room bed.  Mum has lots of pillows and soft blankets in there and Daddy is one of the best blankets there are – he rumbles and vibrates like a dirge and I drift away.

The cool, brisk air hit me full in the face as I bounded off the steps;…

For Auld Lang Syne . . .

For auld lang syne, my dear,

for auld lang syne,

we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet,

for auld lang syne.

So the New Year begins.

The Eve was a sad day.  Lily passed away in her sleep overnight.  Mum had been sleeping on the floor with her the past few nights and early in the morning she asked Daddy to check her because, even…

Happy Birthday to Me!

I am 1 years old today and Mum and Daddy say it is my birthday!  I try very hard but it is hard to remember when I lived Up North with my little Mother, handsome Father, one sister and two brothers.  One brother left before me and my Mother told me we would all go away to far off lands; which I did when I came here to live with Mum and Daddy and old Lily not far from the big…

Happy New Year at Rose Cottage!

I don’t know what a year is, new or otherwise but, so far, it’s going great!  We stayed up late on New Year’s Eve.  Mum made us pointy hats that had polka dots and our names.  She did this in a hurry (she said) so she said she didn’t have a proper way to…

Alleluia!

It’s snowy and cold out so Mum only lets us out for only little bit at a time.  I don’t know why this is.   Both Lily and I LOVE the snow and, with or without our sweaters, we don’t think it is cold at all.

The other day, Daddy came in from the back door and said, “Was a big dog on our stoop or was it rabbits?”  Mum began to laugh and said, “There’s rather a large disparity in the choice, isn’t there?”  She picked me up and we looked out the window of the back door.   She looked down…

Santa Paws is coming!

Something exciting is happening. Even though Mum had a cold; she and Daddy were hustling and bustling – going out the back door, then coming in. Sometimes they asked me to go into my crate (and gave me delicious bits of treat for the effort); sometimes not. When I could, I waited by the back door and they always called me good puppy when they came back in again to find me lying quietly on the kitchen rug.

Friday, Mum climbed up high, hanging pine boughs from the tops of the…

The Weekend at Rose Cottage

Mum says all corgis love soccer. My Auntie Diane (who is especially smart about dogs, in general) brought me a little furry soccer ball as a baby gift when I first came to Rose Cottage. Lily says ALL balls can be soccer balls; it’s the way you play with them that is soccer. She shows me how to put her paw on it and send it flying. She seems to dance around it, kicking it just a…

Molly's Life at Rose Cottage 11-13-2010

This morning we went out to find the yard was completely white and cold and something fluffy and sparkly was coming down from the sky. It crunched beneath my paws and when I lifted them, they were sparkly and kind of wet. Lily just walked in her usual way but I could see her paw prints behind her. She went out to her usual spot as if nothing was different. I tried to jump from paw print to paw print but her gait was longer and I ended up with a face…

Such Wonderful Photos

I just wanted to say that I'm so impressed with the photos on this site. Do artistic people get corgis or do corgis make people artistic?

Molly: One Month at Rose Cottage

There are many signs I am getting to be a big girl my first month at Rose cottage. I am almost 3 months old today and Mum is letting me do stuff Lily gets to do more and more.

This week I got to sleep on the…

Halloween at Rose Cottage

This was the most fun Sunday: Halloween!

October 28, 2010

Today both my ears are completely pricked. Mum and Daddy are SO proud of me. They both hugged and kissed me (but they do that all the time) and Mum sang the song she promised to me:

A man walks down the street

He says why am I short of attention

Got a short little span of attention

Who'll be my role-model

Now that my role-model is

Gone Gone

He ducked back down the alley

With some roly-poly little bat-faced girl

The she repeats "with…

Molly with her New Ball 10.17.10.JPGI do not like wet.

Mum got up so early this morning and Lily, too. I jumped right out of my bin to greet them and Mum bustled me out the door to WET! I can safetly say I DO NOT LIKE WET at all! I do not like it on my nose; I especially do not like it between my toes! When I sit down it gets on my butt and my coat sticks to my skin so that I am still wet all… Continue

Molly on Sundays at Rose Cottage

It is my second Sunday at Rose Cottage and I can safely say I love it best.

I didn't think we got up too early but, perhaps, Mum and Lily did. I didn't wake them but I heard Mum say, "Might as well get up -- Molly must need to go outside" and she lifted me up and carried me to the deck door, holding me until Lily could get by to go down the stairs into the darkness.

I decided, on Wednesday, to do the song and dance my sisters and brother used to do up north. Daddy said I sang… Continue

Molly's Tale of Life at Rose Cottage

What a day! I was up at the crack of dawn (I think, because it was still dark in the room) but Daddy, Mum and Lily didn't get up for hours! I could hear Mum letting Lily outside even though she whispering and then I heard the food bags rustle. I started calling out "I'm here! Come get me! I'm so hungry!" but, still, she didn't come. So I stacked up my toys in the corner of the bin. Then, I gathered all my might and lept at the top of the bin. It took… Continue

Lily Chimes In

Lily on the Sofa 2 10.14.10.JPGIsn't it always the way? For some reason, one corgi is never enough!

When I came to Rose Cottage there was old Megan who was about my age now when I arrived. There was also Rudy, a different breed altogether, and only a few years older. She had had a hard life and was always so grateful for her new home. Megan was stand-offish (as a corgi should be) so Rudy took… Continue

Night of the 7th Day

I had a bit of trouble tonight. Mum & Daddy went away for a little while (it seemed like forever) and I had to stay in my bin. I slept for a little while but I could hear (and when I stood up I could see) Lily lying beside the bin. I tried to get her to help me escape but she just looked at me; smiling all the while. I must admit I was a little mad at them when they came home -- even though Mum made me the best dinner right away. First I pottied by the back door even though I'd also been…

Molly & Life at Rose Cottage

This my 7th day at my new home, Rose Cottage. It's different than being with my family in northern Minnesota and I miss snoozing with Mum & my sisters and brother but Linda Mum and Doug Daddy are my wonderful new parents and now I have Lily as a sister though she is usually cross with me when I try to get her to play. Linda Mum tells her, quite often that, someday, we will be best friends -- perhaps when I am a little older and learn my p-s and q-s.

I had never been in a…
