I've fostered several dogs now, and 2 of which have been corgis (Winston, and Gunner).
On a normal day I would say that my own 2 rescue corgis are , well, normal. That is until I foster a corgi...
With Winston:
I just thought "Ok, so I have a fluffy and a spaz puppy... that is why they are so different", I could justify that I had no idea what age Winston was, and had no idea on his background. That was just Winston. Silent, yet strong and unwilling to back down in the face of danger. Also Lazy with a capital L!
After Winston was adopted, life went back to normal. I had normal dogs, and they were normal corgis.
Then came Gunner:
Gunner is 8 months old, Oona is 7 months old... They should be the same, right?
Heck NO!
Now I understand that Oona is half cattle dog. I know that with mix breeds it is often times unpredictable.
But why the heck is Oona so much smaller than Gunner?!?
She is so narrow, and just the same height, and her head is so... small (and therefore normal size for a dog, corgis=bobbleheads)
I always thought of my girls as normal... but now I see that I have two mutant freaks on my hands!
Also, If I keep having all these seemingly normal corgis to foster, why is it that I picked the two mutant freaks to adopt? Is this some sort of kindred, geek outcast love?
I thought I love corgis... but maybe I really just like dogs that look as though they should be part of a peepshow in a circus?
Please gather round and mystify your mind as you gaze at:
And be amazed as this dog that isn't even looking at you can tell you what you were just talking about:Because moral of this story is Bowties and Radar ears are cool! Trust me, I'm The Doctor.

Technically cattle dogs don't come in merle, it's just the dense ticking that makes them look mottled. I believe they are all born white as well. Oona looks very blue merle to me, but I think she may remain a mystery! She's cute no matter what of course. :)
I did find a couple of pics of blue merle chihuahuas, I guess they are normally considered oversized for the breed and usually ending up at about 10 lbs.Yes I have way too much time on my hands! haha
Wow, only 12 lbs, maybe corgi x chihuahua? I think they call them "chigis" lol....
That would make more sense of that almost all white pup that was in the litter I suppose. I can't imagine any combo of corgi x cattle dog would make a parti-colored puppy but I could be wrong!
Maybe Oona is a dapple dachshund mixed with a corgi? :0
