This has been posted before, but it's that time of year when the temperatures climb and pups get hot on a walk.

Rather than spend a lot of money on pet-store frozen treats, you can easily make your own at home.

Get one small container of plain unsweetened yogurt, mash one very ripe banana, mix in a couple tablespoons of peanut butter, and freeze in ice cube trays for perfect Corgi-sized treats!  I've seen other recipes that add honey or molasses, but I don't see the need for added sugar; the banana is sweet enough.

For variety, replace the banana and peanut butter with some canned pumpkin and a few blueberries. Yum!  Or make savory pops by mixing in a small jar of chicken-only baby food (it's sufficiently mushed to mix right in without a blender).

Mine love them after a walk.

Hand-feed them some scraped snow; they devour it eagerly and it really cools them down.

Only John would come up with a treat like this :)

Honestly now Beth....sounds very yummy! Thanks!

Also, some less tasty but still appreciated summer treats here in Arizona.  Ice cube peas

The only thing you don't want to do is not pay attention and wind up with peas floating in your own ice tea or root beer.

that sounds yummy to me :) i bet the all the corgis on here are going to appreciate the suggestion, thanks Beth!

I bet my daughter will be excited to make this!

That is a great idea.  Mine just go for the plain cubes.  We can't get any ice out without handing out cubes to everybody standing there in line.

I want to make this for myself and the Corgis!!  How does it taste to humans!?
Actually it tastes pretty good!  I've only licked the spoon;  I haven't tried a frozen one.
I have been doing this for years for my babies!  They love these after a walk too!
Sounds yummy, need to do this for Lance and Tucker once it warms up here, its been pretty cool here lately!!  Im sure it will heat up soon though.

Thanks for the recipe, I'll pass it on to my dog loving friends.

Bump.   That time of year again....
