When I got up this morning, Frosty was not using one of his front legs.  He was fine when we went to bed.  He has not indicated that it hurts (no whining, yipping, or noise of any kind).  It has normal range of motion and nothing seems to be swollen or out of place.  I have checked his paw, and he doesn't have and cuts or thorns.  We have been awake for about 5 hours now and there has been no change.  Any ideas?

I will definitely be taking him to the vet tomorrow if he is still doing this, but I don't want to take him today when it doesn't seem to be hurting him or excessively stressing him out in any way.

UPDATE - May 28th

By the time we went to bed last night, Frosty was walking completely normal.  I gave him a baby aspirin at bedtime just to be safe.  He got up this morning bouncing off the walls like normal.  No signs of any limp at all.  He proceeded to rocket around the yard in his usual morning frap, no signs of limping afterwards.

Due to his amazing immediate recovery at the arrival of last night's fried chicken, he has now been nicknamed Mr. Fakey Bluffpants and we all think he is totally full of balonga lol!  But seriously, I think what really happened was that he sprained it while jumping off the couch sometime Sunday night, and when he realized it hurt, he stopped using the leg and just never tried putting weight on it again for the rest of the day because he thought it was still going to hurt.  Once he forgot about the leg in the neverending quest for chicken, and used it, I think he realized it didn't hurt anymore so he started walking on it.

As a funny side note, when I took him out first thing yesterday, he was being all pathetic at the stairs, so I carried him down into the grass.  He immediately turned around and ran back up the stairs, so I told him I wasn't carrying his lazy butt down anymore.  My mom however was completely taken in by his act and unbeknownst to me, carried him up and down the stairs all day yesterday lol!!!

Probably sprained it jumping off something. Limit activity and no jumping for a few days and hopefully he will be better.

Agree with Bev.  I would put off the Vet, soft tissue injuries don't show up on X-Ray and manipulating the leg can hurt.  It could be a stretched ligament, rather than a joint. The key is to keep him from jumping or running around and I would take him out to do his business only on leash.  You could give Homeopathic Arnica by mouth,  I've found it helpful in similar cases.

Sam pulled a muscle in his front leg a couple of weeks ago and was limping like that, and our vet recommended crate rest and giving him coated baby aspirin to help with swelling and pain. He`s fine now!

Thanks for the responses everyone.  I did wonder if he had just sprained it.  There is condeming evidence that he was on the couch last night while we were sleeping (he is blowing coat and there was about half a Frosty on the couch cushions this morning lol), so I bet he sprained it jumping off of there.

Bella did the same thing with a back leg last week and I took her in the next day...they didn't find anything wrong....I was sure she had really hurt it. She's back to normal now but it took about 5 days.

My fellow did the same thing at one time.  He had a pad tear so deep that the vet did not even see it upon examination (she indicated that he was faking for attention from "momma" who of course was fawning over him at the vet office.....Not our normal vet I might add, it was at Banfields....I think my husband though I was going to go Postal on her.....Have not been back!.

My husband and I got him rolled over on this back and did a through examination and it was deep inside of his paw.  After a few days of Neopsporin and limited activity he was good to go!  ^,,^

Hmmm.  For three-legged lame with no other signs of distress, I would give it a day and if he's still putting no weight on it I'd take him in in case he's got something in his pad that might get infected.  If he starts putting some weight on it sporadically I'd give it a couple days to see if he improves.  He looks happy enough in the video.

Hi Chris, I hope he is OK.

As soon as fried chicken arrived for dinner, he started to put weight on it and beg for food lol.  Waiting a couple days to be sure, but looks like he is going to be ok lol!

How's Frosty doing this morning?

Ahhh, the medicinal properties of chicken :)

I"m not familiar with what he normally looks like but it looks to me like possibly something going on with the inside toe on that leg in the metacarpal area (just above the actual toe). I however would not wait several days. Corgis are very tough little dogs and the fact that he is not bearing ANY weight on that leg indicates it is more than just a sprain/strain. Generally the only thing that results in absolutely no weight bearing is a fracture or ligament/tendon tear. Usually with a sprain they will bear weight but have a significant or minor limp. If he starts using it regularly but has a limp then I might weight a few days but no more than 2-3. To me the inside of the foot looks swollen (and not just typical corgi weird feet lol)
