Hello! I have a 11 week old male corgi named sol.

He's mostly well behaved, but whenever he goes to drink water, he barks at the bowl and tries to push the water bowl! We have water fountain second floor but we had to take the water tank away because he was always knocking it over, and he does this whether we are watching or not(we had the water fountain on first floor the first week he came home and he showed the same behavior). Did any of you guys have similar problem? How did you solve it? Right now I'm not giving him any attention when he does this, but it's starting to worry me very much :(

That doesn't really sound aggressive at all, if he's just barking and pushing it with his nose. That sounds like he wants to play with it and some dogs get pretty vocal and pushy when they want to play-fight something. How does he act when you hold the bowl in your hands, without water?

If you are able to get him in a calmer state of mind by holding the bowl aloft, try to give him water that way and progressively hold it closer and closer to the floor. Take it slowly or he'll probably go back to trying to play with it again. Only allow him to put his nose in the bowl and drink when he has all four paws on the ground and isn't barking it. It will take a while, but it is worth it in order to avoid whipping him into a frenzy every time he's around water.

My Border Collie puppy was also a big fan of playing with her water from the fountain, and she'd try to stick her paws in it and make funny noises at it. I only let her take a drink when she would sit there calmly and not vocalise.

As Ludi says, this is not aggressive behavior (which implies the intent to harm), but rather play behavior.  You can simply try a stern "stop that!"  when you see him do it  or you can get a no spill water bowl to help  contain the water.....  He will outgrow this phase.

Reminds me of when my Sparty was a puppy...he barked at it, dug in it and just turned it into a playmate. I got a no tip bowl and put a big towel under it. This phase passes although I could not have a bowl with a picture on the bottom for over a year. Corgis are such fun!

My Foxy didn't bark at the bowl but she used to jump at it and started carrying it around (with water in it,which caused a mess).  So we had to get bowls that fit into a iron base and the problem is cured.  Sounds too like he is just playing.

The water bowl was one of Tenbys greatest pleasures, throwing water, attacking it.  Many times we would find him sitting in it.

Ellie used to dig in her water bowl, splashing it everywhere and making a huge mess.  She still likes to dig in a plastic bowl in the yard when it's hot out.  :)  It's just puppy play.  Others have already given good suggestions on how to correct this behavior.

Napoleon used to ALWAYS make a water park, as I would call it. He's wait until he was unsupervised (ie I was gone from the house and he was gated in the kitchen) and dig in the water bowl and nudge it all over the place. He'll be two in May and probably hasn't done it in at least 6 months. It's definitely just puppy play and Sol will most likely grow out of it. I just keep a towel in the kitchen so if/when it happened I could clean it up ASAP.

Lilliput is 6 and will still play with her water dish. She dives in with her nose and comes up throwing water around. At the park this means she's done drinking and wants us to pick up the bowl and throw the water for her to catch. (I won't do that in the kitchen.)

Thanks for all the comments! I think I'll get no spill water bowl and get a towl under it. I should get him a kiddie pool when the weather gets hotter :)

Absolutely! :-D
