Hello, my name is Lynn and I'm sorry if I'm not posting this in the right place since I joined this group 3 days ago. Unfortunately at that time I had no idea I would lose my Jack the very next day.

He was rushed to the vet, bleeding internally from an un-diagnosed liver mass and I was forced to put him down. He was 13 and the doctor said the chances of them being able to help him were slim and at his age the surgery was risky.
I lost my girl Sarah ... also 13 .. to the same thing. I never heard Corgi's were more prone to liver disease and they were not related to each other so I'm just completely heartbroken.
Jack was my boy, my shadow and I feel his absence every minute of the day.

I found the poem below and wanted to share it with anyone going thru a similar loss.
Love them as long as you can ...
Lynn

IF IT SHOULD BE

If it should be that I grow weak
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then you must do what must be done,
For this last battle cannot be won.

You will be sad, I understand.
Don't let your grief then stay your hand.
For this day, more than all the rest,
Your love for me must stand the test.

We've had so many happy years.
What is to come can hold no fears.
You'd not want me to suffer so;
The time has come -- please let me go.

Take me where my need they'll tend,
And please stay with me till the end.
Hold me firm and speak to me,
Until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time that you will see
The kindness that you did for me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I've been saved.

Please do not grieve -- it must be you
Who had this painful thing to do.
We've been so close, we two, these years;
Don't let your heart hold back its tears.

I'm so very sorry for your loss.  What wonderful memories you must have after 13 years.

So sorry for your loss, no matter how old or young...it hurts. You can find comfort here and share your stories!

Beautifully written.  Our sincere condolences for your loss.  Jack was a handsome fellow and of course you will miss him.

:-(

so sorry for your loss

Lynn I am sooo very sorry for your loss.  Give yourself time to remember, savor and grieve.  The poem brought tears to my eyes.  We came home from church 3 weeks ago and our 16 year old boxer Cinder was dead.  Our son was home sick and said she started convulsing and just stopped breathing.  We were all heart broken. Take your time remembering and be blessed by all the happy memories.

So very sorry for your loss! I had to let my wonderful, Sparty, go this past August at 13 and still feel the pain. I have seen this poem before and it is very beautiful, thank you for sharing.

I am so sorry for  your loss, this is just heartbreaking.

Lynn-

I'm so sorry for your loss of Jack (and of Sarah as well). How wonderful that you were able to spend 13 years with them both.

So sorry for your loss Lynn :( It does get better with time.

So sorry to hear of your lost. The follow poem help us get through the heart ache when we had to put our Rugby down.

....Grieve not

nor speak of me with tears,

but laugh and talk of me

as if I were beside you.....

I loved you so

'twas Heaven here with you.

I am so, so sorry for your loss!  I am sitting here crying like a baby!  After thirteen years you must have a lot of really great memories, hold them close to your heart.    Please post your thoughts here, (if it helps).  And know that all of us here will understand your grief!  I really loved this poem, beautifully written!
