Do any of your dogs seem to act strange when " unusual " things are going on? We were packing and moving to our other home the last 2 months and Sage couldn't go with me to work for a month till we figured out that "dogs are allowed".

Sage spent much of her time under the bed, in closets, corners or on the chair. When I would call her she would slowly come but then again retreat to her "spot". No other corgis of mine did this. She is a Therapy Dog and very sensitive...

Now it's been a month since all this was going on and Sage is back to her "normal" self, running, playing and acting like nothing happened. She also is waiting by the door to go to work with me:) Thank-goodness.

Do any of your dogs ever do this?

Jack got so depressed when my husband briefly worked second shift that he hardly played, did not want to go for walks, and mostly laid around looking worried.   This is a dog who is very active and is quite happy to go on walks with me alone in the afternoon if I have a day off work and Shawn isn't around.

Oh yes, they are very affected by their surroundings! If Chuck is gone overnight Izzy spends most of her time under the stool in the entry. Apparently she does the same when I am gone. Mine are used to traveling with us so I wonder how they will react if we were to move. Did you move very far, Jane?

Hi Bev, we only moved a few blocks...the dogs all know the way from one place to the other and Sage has always gone there with me so it must have been all the packing and me probably being stressed over getting everything packed. She would also just look at me when I said "no" for going to work with me as she has been going with me since a pup. Now she happily waits for me by the door at 5AM to get in the car...unless it's someone else's turn! She again is my snuggler and cuddler...I was really beginning to worry!

When I was a kid we an awesome yellow lab. She would get so stressed when we hauled out luggage. She would pace and pant. She must have associated it with us going away and leaving her with a house sitter even if we did bring her with us. Change can be just as tough on pets as on people, plus they can sense our own moods.
