Bladder stones or cancer
Wynn has been to the vet several times the last few weeks but he continues to have blood in his urine. Next week he will have an ultrasound done to see if he has a mass or more stones that can't be seen on X-rays! Hoping it's not cancer!!!!!
Does anyone have experience with their dog having cancer? Evidently she would start him on some med but I forgot the name!

Well Wynn does have cancer! It's not operable due to it being in his bladder. He will start on a cancer drug as soon as my vet calls me(we had to go to a different place for the ultrasound). It's a people drug that they will get from a human pharmacy. That's all I know for now!

Jane....I am so sorry! Many prayers that this drug works well for Wynn and that you will have a long time together.
The 2 times I dealt with cancer in my dogs, both corgis, there was no chance of treatment. By the time Arnie was diagnosed with lung cancer it was just days before he passed. With Max, there wasn't much we could do about the lymphnoma other than prednisone to shrink the turmors because the DM was so bad. I have no experience or advice to give you...just lots of hugs and prayers.

Thanks Linda...I guess I just have to hope it doesn't get painful. he's had a good life and had many "travels" with me. The vet was very impressed that he was the ideal weight...she had never seen one that was the correct corgi weight and asked me how I did it...my response was "serving size"!

I am so sorry Jane!! If it helps at all Sparty lived over a year after his cancer diagnosis. We just made sure it was a great year and when he started to seem depressed he ate his pound of bacon and we let him go. Hopefully since there are some medications for Wynn he will have good quality for much longer. Hugs my friend! He is giving you time to figure out how to say goodbye to your Heart dog.

Thanks Bev, We will be taking him with us on as many car rides and travels as he can go on. Treats will be plentiful and so will his snuggly toys he likes so well!
Beth....Wynn is 11 1/2 and we've had him since he was 8 weeks old...he picked me as I really wanted a female but will never forget the day I went to pick out a pup as he was 6 weeks old and waddled up to me and fell asleep on my foot!!!!! That was it....he was going to be my boy!!!! Waiting another 2 weeks was hard but he was sure worth waiting for...

Yes, I remember how he picked you! I now he's your heart dog, as Bev said. Here's hoping the treatment gives you lots more time with him. Jack is nine-and-a-half and obviously slowing down now and I just don't want to think about the march of time. I cried my heart out when we lost Maddie, but Jack is almost like having another adult person in the house.
Keep us posted on Wynn. We all feel like we know him here.
