Hi I have a 18 month Pembroke Welsh Corgi that has been acting strange since I came home from school. He's acting scared to come close to me and yelped when I tried to pick him up. He goes into his crate and sits all the way in the back staring at the side of the wall. I noticed him eating some food before going into the crate, but he didn't drink any water. He doesn't respond to any type of play, toys, treats, lasers.... etc. Just looks depressed and scared. Please any insight to this would be great. Thanks

Wow that could be anything for sure but it sounds like he may be in physical distress to me. I'd start by touching him and see if you get any pain response. Not drinking could be a sign of pancreatitis or bloat which is very serious try palputating his stomach if he seems bloated and distended take him to a vet fast these things can kill in a matter of hours. I don't want to scare you but your gut is saying something is very wrong with your boy so you should listen to it.
I would definitely visit a vet for this behavior. I agree it sounds like he's in physical distress.
I agree with the others! Please get him to the vet now!
Thank you everyone who replied with your concern. He just drank some water and ate some food. I felt around and it seems to be his right hip. We are off to the vet in a few mins. Wish us luck.
I hope everything goes well. Let us know what the vet says.
Best of luck!!
Time to get to the vet. Let us know how it goes.
Good luck...glad he ate and that you were able to figure this out...my Wynn will do weird things like this if he hurts too!
Oh wow, poor little guy! I hope the vet figures it out quickly. I'm happy to hear you are taking him the the vet.
We just got back from the Vet. The Vet said he may need x-rays if the pain continues after a few days. He gave Einstein a shot for the pain and some anti-inflammatory meds. Fingers crossed that it's just minor and he can recover on his own. Again, thank you to everyone for your replies of concern. I'll keep everyone posted.
Did he react when the vet manipulated his leg? Is it definitely a leg issue?
Yes he did. He yelped a little when the doctor put pressure on his right hip and extended his leg out. But the medicine has helped greatly and he's 90% back to normal. Thanks for all your concerns and comments.
