Izzy loves the cats and Sparty ignores them unless they get near his food while he is eating. I never allow chasing unless the cat starts it so my cats are very comfortable with the dogs.

I have 2 cats that ignore my corgis and one cat that thinks he is a special corgi cuz he can climb trees(see my pic in photos) In general my animals get along fine but the cats do occasionally get chased and have to eat on my bathroom counter or they'd starve. How long have you had Rogue? It does take some time for adjusting...like weeks...for both to feel comfortable! What Bev says about the chasing needs to be an absolute rule!

When my cat Alice was still alive, she wouldn't let the dogs come near her. Jack so wanted to be friends, but she would have none of it and after a swat or two he just learned to stay away. Then we brought Maddie, our second Corgi, home. If Alice came downstairs, Maddie would go in her crate. One evening, I saw Maddie pacing nervously then go into the corner of the living room and curl up in a ball. I looked in our downstairs hallway, and there was the cat, between Maddie and her crate. So mine were fine with the cat but the cat hated them.

Stray cats in our yard are a totally different thing! Jack will sit at the door and growl and bark like crazy if one is out there.

If you look at the breed description of Corgis on various websites that list the traits of each breed, they generally say something like "Good with family cats if raised with cats; territorial with strange dogs or cats."

Washu used to be deathly afraid of dogs. She didn't even like bf's gentle springer spaniel. So when 3 month old Ein came along, she freaked out. She wouldn't let Ein come anywhere near her. If he did, she would bat at him. Ein would always want to play with her but he quickly learned to be cautious when approaching her. But after a year, something magical happened and she became comfortable with Ein. (see video) She would nudge her head at him and even let him lick her face. We would have Ein and Washu on our bed, supervised of course, and just let them hang out with each other; though they would be at the opposite ends of the bed. I think all that constant contact helped get her get used to him.

I appreciate all the other stories! I'm thinking that better enforcement of the "no chasing" rule might at least help on the corgi end of things, because it would mitigate all the barking (and my resulting headache). Now if only I could teach two cats that Rogue is not a threat so they wouldn't growl and hiss at her! Rogue really does like cats - she'll curl up on the dog bed with the third one (my big white one) and sniff up the neighbor's cat outside without any incidents!

We are at the point of trying to rehome our cat, Jasper is 2 and was here before Archie, initially they ignored each other but now every time Jasper appears, there is hissing, growling and lots of chasing!! We try not to allow the chasing but we are not always in the same room. Jasper has taken to spraying indoors and will only lie on the table where Archie cannot get to him, but has to get down sometime and Archie lies under the table in wait.
Any hints or tips on how to get them to get along??

We recently brought home a 1 year old corgi Frosty. He chases our 3 cats constantly. We have to be on him non-stop about no cat chasing, but it doesn't seem to make any difference at all. Every time we let him back in from outside, the first thing he does is go cat hunting. Every time a cat walks in the room, he wants to chase it. I don't think it would be so bad if our black cat Ollie wouldn't constantly hunt Frosty down and instigate a chasing. Ollie thinks its great fun to tease Frosty until Frosty chases him. Our other two cats have been spending so much time in our closet, that I took pity on them and got them a couch and a bed to lay on in the closet. We are trying to use a no-cat chasing rule, but he just doesn't listen at all. The only thing I can think to do is make him come lay by me on the floor and stay.

Oh, and by the way, yes, Ollie gets in trouble for dog baiting just as often as Frosty gets in trouble for cat chasing, so we are not just punishing Frosty and letting Ollie get away with it.

Cat chasing stops if I say no! Otherwise I have leashed the dog in the house. It is easier to grab a trailing leash than a running corgi! I did not have to do it for long before me saying no meant something.
