Anyone see your dog washing his face? My 4 year old, Tom, has been licking his paws, then rubbing them on his face mostly above his eyes.  He looks like he's washing his face just like a cat.

He's outside a lot but no allergy symptoms right now. The other, youner dog does this every once in a while but i see Tom do it almost every morning.

Oliver does this in the morning, too. I thought it was my imagination. He does have slightly watery eyes in the morning (allergies, I'm sure...probably to cats).
We have 2 cats as well but I'm not sure this is allergy related. It'd be interesting to find a corgi that did this that didn't live with cats. It's really interesting to watch. Sometimes mine also tuck in their front feet like cats do, too. Does your guy do that?
No paw tucking...but that must be darn cute.
I don't have cats, but my 4 year old, Ava, does it every day. She also licks her paws right before taking her naps. My younger one, J.J., does it once in awhile.
A couple weeks ago i though i saw Adora clean her self like a cat out of the corner of my eye. At first i thought it was my imagination playing tricks on me because shortly before we got Adora I lost my cat Taz (we got adora 3 months ago). Taz was command trained like a dog. One of his tricks was cleaning him self on command (licking paw and washing face). Then a couple days later my boyfriend mentioned to me that he had a similar experience. Then that night low and behold she did it right infront of us while she was chillin on the floor. Adora has met cats, as I wanted to socialize her now while she is still a pup, just incase i deside down the road to get a cat again, if ever find the right one. She has only had brief incounters and never has a cat done with infront of her. Yet it is just something she does now on a daily basis, must just come natural to some dogs that want to stay clean.
Both of our boys wash their face like this. They also lick their paws just like a cat. They are not siblings and came from different parts of the country. Must be a corgi thing..................
Yes, it is a Corgi thing. Yoda does it everyday. I guess Corgi's front legs are just long enough to reach their face and not long enough to make it difficult.
Yes, most of mine do this unless another corgi has already licked their faces!
Does only the less dominant one lick the more more dominant one, or it does not matter? My younger male will licks my older female, but she never licks him. There are time I even think that she wants him to lick her face because she would walk up to him and put her face right in front of him. It's not a nose to nose greeting, but it just seems like she expect a face lick, and then he does it.
My corgis very seldom lick each other and then only the #2 dog licks No1...however, he regualrly licks our cat who tolerates it but then immediately goes into full self-grooming mode!
Is there any discharge from the eyes?
It is very cute. Zac used to do this everyday...in the morning when he got up and after he ate. He was not raised with cats. I wish Murray would do it.
