Every time we go to the dog park, an off-leash trail or just out on walks in a busy area, someone stops to exclaim to me "that is the happiest puppy I have ever seen!"

I've never thought much of it, because she is a puppy and basically everything that has ever happened to her is OMG THE GREATEST THING SINCE THE LAST GREATEST THING THAT HAS EVER HAPPENED TO MEEEEEE!!!!!

This kong in the greatest thing ever, the dog park is the greatest thing ever, chasing a snowball is the greatest thing ever, you get my point.

We were at an off-leash park yesterday, and this woman with two labs and a golden retriever was out and when Casey ran up to her dogs to say "hi" and try to get them to play ("cause what else would you do if you're a dog at a dog park, right?" says Casey), the woman said point blank "I've NEVER seen a Corgi that happy before."

Apparently, this woman does some sort of champion training or agility or some such, and she said that all the Corgi's she's ever seen were very aloof/withdrawn/indifferent. She said it was completely bizarre for her to see a Corgi as happy and playful as mine is.

Is this true, fellow Corgi owners? Are Corgi's usually "meh" dogs? Casey is my first Corgi, so I assumed this was pretty typical behaviour. And I never thought much about the happy excitement at everything, cause she's always been like that.

OMG, no! My experience has been that corgis are very happy. Their total enthusiasm is what made me such a corgi person. Everything is more fun with them around. However, a sad corgi is really pitiful so maybe that is what she has seen.
My Tootsie loves everyone and feels it is her duty to greet everyone with a tail wag and a lick..
I always hear from everybody that the one best thing about Corgis are their happy disposition. Midas is always more excited and happy than most any other dog I've seen. Maybe she was thinking of a different breed? Very strange!
I always thought that a key trait for corgis was there happy-go-lucky attitude. And if you ask me they always look like they have a big goofy smile :P which is one of my favorite things about them
Adora i just like yours, thinks everything is just great! or wow! or what is that!? Doesn't matter who or what, or if she seen the same thing or person a million times she is all smile and enthusiastic about everything. When i get her to do something after she looks at me with a smile as to say "look mommy i did it". or when she sees a dog up a head she sprints forward and looks back at me with a smile, waiting for my command to go. Corgi's remind me of little smilie clowns.
I don't know what corgis she met but that's just not the corgi way lol. Three out of the four corgs we run around with are happy gleeful EVERYTHINGISAWESOME pups.

Roxi is just a little Diva who needs to get over herself....

but besides that Noo! Its their duty to bring happiness to everything :)
My corgi is very happy! But maybe she is thinking of a corgi during agility or "working". I know when Rocky is fetching out at the dog park, he doesn't even acknowledge other people or dogs. He is SOO focused on the task. Focus = aloof? maybe.

But I still would love to meet your puppy. Sounds like a dream! :)
maybe she was thinking of Cardis, they tend to be more aloof and thoughtful...
