Well it started on Friday she began getting sluggish but i didn't look to far into it. The next day she started vomiting a sausage like substance with a lot of white goo ( don't know what it really was ) and was trembling. The next day She INFLATED was acting lethargic and depressed like bloat which at first i thought that was the problem so i stayed up all night worried she was going to die ( since my grandpa didn't feel like taking me to the 24 hour hospital ) so I woke him up early around 7:30 am so we got to the vet at around 8:00 and she had X-rays and blood tests done. The vet said she was full of food ( gorged herself to an extent ) I felt a state of relief considering i have seen a few posts where the Corgi was also a sloppy eater with an overgrown appetite. So she stayed overnight at the vet, the next day the vet called my mom saying she has a Hepatic Failure ( liver failure ) and that she wasn't gonna make it. The vet suggested putting her to sleep but my mom said no. I don't know what to do my mom isn't here to make things better ( like she usually does ) and my grandpa isnt really doing good on that account.

The Vet put her on special Royal canine hepatic food , antibiotics, Denamarin ( S- adenosylmethionine ) to help support the liver, the vet says he can't save her so my final option is pray to God she gets better, give her what the vet supplied and hope she turns out alright.

Chuleika used to be so energetic, fun, loving, funny, protective. Now all she does is sleep, she really cant hold herself up  breaks my heart seeing her like this and  I really dont want to put her to sleep .... im dying inside :(

P.S : When i left her at the vet her eyesight was great. The day after shes partially blind walking into cabinets, doors, walls. Can anyone point out that cause?

So sorry to hear this! How old is your Corgi?

I know very little about liver failure in dogs. I know people can live with only a part of their liver still functioning. I also know that livers are capable of some level of regeneration. So I suppose the outlook depends on what caused the liver failure, if the initial cause can be removed, and if the dog can be supported through the failure period to reach a point where some level of recovery is possible.

I hope your beloved Chuleika is able to recover.
She's only 4 years old which only adds to the problem since i haven't spent nearly as much time as i wouldve wanted to. Anyways thanks for the support :) really needed it.
I would get a copy of your records and get a second opinion. Look for an Internal Medicine Specialist and not just a normal vet. If you can't find an Internist, a 2nd opinion at a different vet hospital should be helpful still. Did they give you a cause for the liver failure? That's not something that just happens, unless she ate something toxic or something like that. Poor girl. Get a second opinion ASAP! Sooner the better because they may have something that can save her but sometimes the longer you wait the less likely the vet can help you. Please keep us posted!
The vet said she was born with a Disfunctional liver well since im no professional im gonna take his word for it but i will get a second opinion before she starts suffering to much. I just feel like i couldve prevented all of this and now chances are slim she will recover. I have faith that she will and thanks a million for the advice :)
Hi Lancarlos, I am so sorry to hear about Chuleika, unfortunately I don't have any good news for you. Acute Hepatic Failure occurs when 75% of liver tissue are destroyed. Vomiting, shaking, inflated stomach, disorientation...etc all leads to the final outcome. You may want to reconsider and make Chuleika's final days a comfortable one. I'm very sorry.
Wow that sounds very painful I was looking for the symptoms all over the internet but couldn't find any thanks for the memo. Right now i am praying that she will recover and since putting her to sleep is my mom's final decision she will have to think about it long and hard since she feels that she can save poor chuleika chances are she won't make it but yes if i see no progress whatsoever that will be the only option to take which is what has me so fed up inside. And Thanks :) i will keep on posting for 10 days since thats the time the vet gave me before the revisit.
Oh I'm so sad to hear this. Sounds like a tragedy. Perhaps she ate something? I believe amanita mushrooms poison the liver.
Reminds me of when we lost Siri, healthy, 7 years old, choking accident. JustLikeThat! Sudden, unanticipated.
Sometimes our friends leave us. Let her know that you don't want her to go, but if she has to go, it's OK.
I hope she makes it. If she doesn't, it'll be really really painful but you'll get through it. Remember all the good times you've shared.
Maybe she'll make it. Don't count on it. Hope for it. Accept what happens.
Please let us know how it turns out.
My heart is just breaking for you. We lost our beloved cocker spaniel, Zero, to this same thing. I found out too late that grapes were toxic for dogs and it had always been one of his favorite treats. Once the diagnosis was made, I could not believe how quickly things went down hill for him. We had made a date to put him to sleep and had to move it up because he went blind overnight. I could tell how scared he was that day and all I could think of was how to take the pain and fear away. I am surprised how emotional I am becoming writing this. We lost Zero way back in 1997 and it is still very painful. I hope you know that all of our hearts are breaking for you and most of us know the feeling of making such a tough choice. God bless you all.
This is how we lost Buffy at only 6. She had three episodes and with the last one it progressed further and she did not make it. I had decided to let her go but she did not make it through the night. You have a difficult decision ahead of you and I am really sorry. My only regret is that I was unable to be there to hold her while she went. Corgi hugs.
I am so sorry for your/her circumstances! You will know if it's time to help her if she's not getting any better. Having a dog put to sleep is much more peaceful if you are there with them...if it comes to that point! Good Luck to the both of you!
This must be painful for you and Chuleika :(

Please take care and be with her whenever you can.
Don't despair, stay strong for your little Chuleika. I wish I could offer some advice for you. I just wanted you to know that we are thinking of the both of you right now. It is so hard to see them suffer when all you can do is wait.
