What a beautiful day for a walk, we should take the kids and dogs to the woods and do some walking.  Off we go on this beautiful sunny 70+ degree day, walking for about an hour.  We saw horses, two sets of 3, at two different times.  The first set of riders on the horses walk by and one of the riders exclaims, I love corgis!!!  Lance was barking the whole time and Tucker calm as could be, just watching them carefully as they pass.  The second time a different set of horses come through this time, I am holding Lances leash and he did much better, still barking but not quite as crazy, and once again Tucker calm as could be.  In fact, Tucker had a few people stop and ask about him and well poor Lance was just too excited, that he didnt get any attention.  We h ave lots of work to do with him on trails.  :(

So about a half hour or so into the walk, after I took control of Lances leash, I notice a bug on his face :O.  I carefully took it off, as I didn't want it going in his eye!!  A few more times I saw these buggers on his white flashy fur...UGH, again off they went.  We get home and into the bath Lance goes as his white fur is not so white anymore, well we washed away quite a few more bugs from him.  I believe altogether there were 20.  :(

Next up in the bath was Tucker, not one bug did we see on the walk or in the tub, but about 20 minutes ago my daughter noticed a bug on Tucker, UGH!!  What could thse darn bugs be...Im thinking TICKS :(

I am so mad, as I am not really into walking in the woods in the first place and now I really am not a fan of it!!!  Nothing like trying to get some excercise but instead come across these unwelcome buggers.

Yes, I guess I should have been prepared for it, but didn't give it much thought as we don't usually walk in the woods.  I definitely will give it thought next time and find other places to walk the dogs.

Some of the flea preventatives are supposed to ward off ticks too but I have no idea if they actually work. We do not have a lot of trouble with ticks in our area thankfully since I love walking in the woods. Sounds like tucker is setting a good example.
Tucker is a great example, would be nice if Lance could follow Tuckers lead!  Lance is on Frontline and tomm Tucker is getting Frontline on, so wish we would have put Frontline on Tucker sooner.

Oh, but they probably had sooooo much fun! I actually use frontline if it's a  bad tick year and usually only one time. I actually  use it if they are really bad. Otherwise if my dogs get only a couple I don't bother. We have ticks here for about a month or so depending on the weather the one time gets me through the worst.

I picked a few off Sidney when we visited Seabreeze farms. Ticks are oogy!

yeah I think our count is like up to 21 :O

My guess is at least with the frontline they won't latch on and that's a good thing...it's really gross when one of mine has about 5 on their ears that are sucking their blood:(

Ticks are nasty.  Make sure you do tick checks on each other, and check the back of your head and anywhere where there are creases or folds in your body (back of knees, other unmentionables, etc).

We use K9 Advantix because we live in a bad tick area.  It seems to do the trick.  We live in an area where deer are backyard visitors and "walking in the woods" means going anywhere where someone hasn't mowed for six months.  lol

OK Beth...I am already starting to feel that yucky crawly feeling and we haven't even seen a tick yet. I hate them. Are ticks good for something????
Bird good.   :-)      Ticks are very good bird food.  Not much else they do as far as I can tell.
