Nancy.... I'll have to try the Penzey's spices but I definitely will not be sharing with the "kids"! I'm thinking it probably would be on the do not feed list!!!

Yes, I bake the pumpkin, puree and freeze in trays and you can also put them in a ziplock after they're frozen to store/protect from freezer burn...then just pop them out and throw in the microwave a few secs to warm up!!!! mmm good!

Do you guys just freeze the pumpkin in an ice cube tray and feed it to your Corgis??
I have to have that Swedish Anise Cookie recipe Nancy...corgi related or not I'm sure they would like the crumbs that fall on the floor!!
Glad so many of you are sharing your Holiday ideas and stories!! Keep em coming!!!

Hey! I love the idea of Corgis and the Holidays, count me in. I am having company for Thanksgiving and am going to get them to help me put up the Christmas tree. A little early maybe...but the help will be great. Sammy and Merry are looking foward to a turkey feast....small though it may be...in answer to the chocolate question....any chocolate is not good for our furry friends...but dark chocolate is especially toxic. Grapes and onions are not the best food for them either. Have a safe and wonderful holiday....Marion

If you want really excellent spices, we chefs recommend Penzey's Spices. They have mulling spices (excellent for Swedish Glogg), salt free blends, pumpkin pie spice mix, etc. They do have stores around the country (one just opened up in Richmond, VA), catalogue sales and probably on-line too. I was raised in Rockford, IL where many Swedes settled and I have an extraordinary recipe for Swedish Anise Cookies that are soft gingerbread type with anise, fennel and coriander seeds in the dough. Oh, I realized this isn't about corgis...oops. Well, Tasha says I can be forgiven this time! We just did a chef's demo where one chef carved an enormous pumpkin and wore it on his head....

Nowadays I just order the spices at http://www.hemslojd.com/ very much like what I remember from those parties of years gone by.

oops.... spelled it wrong!! Shame on me my Swedish ancestors would not be happy!! Glogg (with the two dots over the o) is a deliscious mulled wine. http://www.ling.su.se/staff/evali/glogg.htm Here's a recipe I found online. My father and my aunt used to make it and serve it at the family party Christmas Eve.... ahhhhhh wonderful memories!!!
