Actually, kibble does nothing for teeth. Saying that kibble cleans teeth is like saying that cheetos will clean your teeth. If I had to choose wet vs. dry, I would choose wet- it tends to have less fillers anyway (less carbs/grains). The only problem with wet food is that it can get expensive. The whole "wet food rots your teeth" is a myth as well.

we dont live in queens, we live on long island. we are going West HIlls Dog park in Huntington tomorrow afternoon around 3pm. There are directions in this site
http://www.lidog.org/li_dogparks.htm Not sure whos going to make it, there arent many on LI. 2 said no :-( But we are still going, it will be Thiagos first dog park outing. We will use the Small Dog area. We are bringing my sister in law and her mini wiener pup and the chihuahua shes sitting also.

2 mangled frisbees later... I guess I shouldnt be cheap about it huh, but wont all frisbees get chewed up since they are plastic. Thiago loves fetching them though. My hubby says i should get one at a toy store....people play with frisbees too!?!

We are hoping to take Thiago to West Hills Dog park in 2 weeks, Saturday Jully 11th if anyone wants to join in the Corgi mayhem, Thiago has been practicing with a frisbee!

MV - We do NOT feed our corgi any wet food because it's not good on his teeth. Most vets recommend dry kibbles. We use Innova - all natural and holistic dog food that's made in the USA. We give him 1 - 1 1/2 cups per day for his size. No matter what you do or feed, corgis will always look like they're hungry! They have those eyes. We sometimes give some light snacks like a Dentastix or a piece naturally dried chicken. I would really recommend no wet food but that's a personal preference. Most dog owners I know only give dry kibbles or else their dog gets even more picky about meal time.

With Milo's allergies, we give Hill's Z/D Ultra.

What brands of food and how much do you all feed your corgis? When did you stop giving wet food? Thiago turned 10 months yesterday. He weaned himself off the 3 feedings a day the vet recommended before 6 months. I read on a Corgi site that at six months you can stop mixing in wet food. It took him a little bit to get use to just dry but he has been fine. He will eat 2 cups of Pet Promise Adult food in one sitting, usually not until late afternoon or evening (he wont touch it if i put it down in the am, so i pick it up) My sister in law just got a new puppy, weiner dog, and it gets wet food. She lives at my mother in laws, where we have a huge vegetable garden area to maintain in Spring and Summer, so we are there alot. My husband has told them its ok to give Thiago some wet food, since he tries to take it from the baby. I say no. Then he wont want to eat his plain food EVER! It would be like going backwards. Corgi is pretty much all my responsibility so I feel I can call the shots on his food. Is that so wrong? They act like I starve him because I dont want him to eat people food (pizza crust, or whatever eveyone wants to throw at him), and I dont want him to be overweight, which this breed can be easily, and get medical problems. Last weight we got on him was 27 pounds, a few months ago. "He looks like hes losing weight" hubby said last night. I say, no, his chest is getting bigger, and he just got groomed, making him seem slimmer. There's a fued a brewing because my mother in law just bought him some cans of wet food! I know if i ask her and my sister in law not to give him any while hes there, they will isten but it wont stop my hubby, since its HIS dog and all....HELP!

Uni - we have 2 annual NY corgi meetups... one in the spring and one in the fall that Anna organizes. Other than that I don't think anything else is planned. Many of us frequent our local dog runs though so maybe you can coordinate or run into some corgies that way and have a mini-meetup.
