It's not hard, she doesn't break the skin, but her teeth are sharp and it does hurt. How do I get her to stop biting me? I try to get her to chew on a toy or even old towel but no go. It's always my…Continue

hi molly and isabella. Leo doesn't try to eat or chew on the collar. he just lays there like he can't move with it on. its kind of funny. he's a smart dog so I knew he'll get used to it soon. i just didn't know if this is a common issue or not. The Harness he does chew on and his little legs slip out of it all the time.

I didn't take the collar off when it was clear she didn't like it. She'd always calm down about it, go about her business, and then later I'd take it off. She won't be wearing a collar 24/7 anyway...just when we go out on a leash. You're right, Leo will forget about it soon enough. Pouty puppy faces are funny, though, aren't they?

Hi Yuki. Isabella hated her collar at first, too. I'd put it on her for small bits at a time (10-20 mins.). We have a thin, light, nylon buckle collar. Once I slipped it on her while she was asleep and when she woke up, she didn't even notice it! She was 13-14 weeks before it didn't bother her much. She still doesn't wear it all the time, but I keep putting it on her so she doesn't forget. Now, when I tried the leash once she was used to the collar, she went nuts. All she wanted to do was eat it! I kept on trying, again just short bits at a time. All of a sudden, on Halloween night (almost 18 weeks) I put the collar and leash on her so I could keep track of her opening the door for all the trick or treaters. She did great! I guess she just had to do it on her own time. We have yet to go out for a walk (she was just cleared/finished all her shots), so we'll see how that goes! Give Leo a little time and maybe have him wear it for short amounts each day...he'll build up to it not bothering him at all.

I figured to just leave it on him. If i take it off every time he throws a fit, he'll just always throw a fit.

It shouldnt take long for him to get use to the collar. Maya took a wk or less. She found out there were more interesting things to chew on and soon forgot about it.

@Yuki - Maybe start Leo with a nylon collar with the plastic clasps.

Trying to get my leo used to the collar and harness. how long did it take any of you to get your corgi comfortable with them? He's 10 weeks old. I got the collar for him yesterday for his dog tags. My last dog was a mutt but he had no problem wearing his harness all the time. But my Leo is so depressed when he has to wear it.

Some local terms were used:

And I dont think its ever normal for a dog to throw up a lot. Maybe get her checked out by a vet
