Luna the Therapy Corgi

Luna goes to work with me at Phoenix House, where I work as the bilingual family therapist.  Below you can see the bio they posted of her on their website.

When Twinkies Attack

Luna must have pissed Twinkie off while they were left alone on Friday. When I got back to my mother’s house Luna’s face was covered in blood and had three distinct puncture marks.  They were crated together at my mom's house and apparently when my mom's husband let the yorkie out, they saw her and got excited that they were gonna be let out to play with her. My…

Luna's getting spayed today

It's sad.  I dropped her off a little more than an hour ago and I miss her so much already.  I think part of it is still some lingering feelings of when I last dropped a dog off at the vet's - she didn't make it.  This time it's just a spay though - and Luna has been a healthy girl - it's just weird not having her here with me. Normally she would be running around the house right now, playing or frapping like crazy.  Instead she's at the vet.  My poor baby.... but it must be done and she'll…

Week Seven W/ Luna, Puppy Parade, & Misty's Health

Luna now has a few more commands in her repertoire: sit, down, leave it, the touch game, and we're working still on stay. As of the 18th we have now had 4 sessions of Puppy Kindergarten and she is enjoying those classes, to say the least. Our trainer thinks she might do well in the herding classes they offer up in Escondido - I may ask her for more information about that next…

Luna's Hunt for Approved Noms

I now have a destructive puppy on my hands. Whether through boredom, or sheer wanting to know if things taste good, she has been eating or munching on the the randomest things.

It started Monday with realizing that she can now reach the toilet paper roll. I had a long day, and unfortunately was only able to spend a short amount of time with her between work and…

Luna is now 3 months old!

The Luny-Bin is now 3 months old! She is learning quickly by leaps and bounds all the things that I am trying to teach her to do. We had our second Puppy Kindergarten class yesterday - and since she's grown a bit since our last class - she was more willing to play with the bigger pups. She now does "puppy sit-ups": goes from standing - to down - to sitting - and through the process all over again.

She got her pictures taken… Continue

One Month with Luna

My little girl has a new nickname, or three = Luny/Loony, Luny/Loony Tunes, Luny Tuny. She got the first one from me when I was simply trying to call her in from my mom's backyard and couldn't see the little brat - and out came Luny. My mom's the one who started calling her Luny Tuny - it's cute. She is crazy, so it fits.

Anyway, it's been one month now with Luna. She is now 12 weeks old! I… Continue

Week Three with Luna

I just love my little wombat! She is growing by bunny hops and bounds and is up to 7.3 lbs as of Friday. Obviously her weight and growth had no ill/lingering effects from her little tummy ache issues last Sunday. I talked to her vet about what happened with her and she said not to give her those anymore - which is good because I already gave them away to Billie! She said an unflavored rawhide bone might be best for her.

This week she received her second series of shots, plus her… Continue

Luna's Tummy Ache

Yesterday was a little difficult - it makes me very grateful as well that one of my best friends is a vet tech....

That being said - Luna LOVES to eat! I got her some NylaBone Healthy Edibles Lamb & Apple Flavor Chews for Puppies. They're supposed to be gentle for their digestive systems.... I guess not if they eat them in like 5 minutes, along with probably a great amount of air while she gobbled it down.

She got it - and the next thing I know there's a stub left, which… Continue

Week Two with Luna

I made Luna's available space in her crate a little smaller and set up an alarm for myself to go off at 12:00, 3:00, and 6:00 to take her out to prevent accidents in her crate. I chose an alarm sound that would prove, well, alarming enough to wake me from a deep sleep. I was a little worried how this would work, but knowing I am a light sleeper I wasn't too concerned with waking myself up - but rather with getting to Luna in time.

Luna did wonderfully though this whole week, we are at… Continue

Week One with Luna

I was very nervous awaiting the arrival of my new corgi puppy in my life. I mean, yes, I couldn't wait - I missed River dearly - her loss had broken me in a way I didn't think was possible and I wanted a dog in my life again. The way River died, though, was so sudden and unexpected that I couldn't help the feelings of unease bringing this new baby home.

Every week, nay day, I awaited pictures of my new little one and thought seriously about what I would name her. As the days grew… Continue
