A male Corgi in top shape should weigh about 28#. That depends on his build also but you need to be able to easily be able to feel his ribs. My guess is that he may be overweight as I know when Wynn has gotten up to almost 30# that was overweight for him. He doesn't look overweight but that means nothing unless you check his ribs. Go with what your vet says on this one. Less is better for a Corgi:)
I believe that the ideal weight is around 27-30lbs in peak show condition. A lot of it has to do with the size of the corgi and body structure--32lbs doesn't seem overweight for a pet pooch to me! He looks happy and healthy! Just look at that smile of his :)
Thank you:-) I try to keep him happy And healthy hehe
Noodles is a big corgi and he currently weighs 41 pounds. His vet wants him down to 40 pounds, so only one more to go! You can feel his ribs and as his vet says...he has the cute corgi figure. It all depends on the build.

It really does just depend on the dog. There are a few tests to see if your dog is overweight, one, can you easily feel his ribs? And 2 if you grab some scruff near his neck/shoulder blades does it feel like a big bulky sweatshirt/jacket or is it a thinner handful more like a t-shirt? Franklin is now 30# and fit, yet looking at him you'd think he was small compared to most corgis out there, yet according to a lot of people and the breed standard based just on weight/numbers he would be considered to be on the heavier side.

He is so cute! Lol maybe it does depends on the dog because I can feel Teddy's ribs but with a thin layer of fat. When he lays down u can feel every rib And sometimes see it. If I were to grab the scruff of his neck it feels, as u say, a T-shirt
Ribs? What ribs? Good thing I came home with a bag of weight control food tonight. My little chunker definitely needs to lose a few pounds!
The standard is 27 lbs for a male, but obviously not every dog is going to be that exact weight. He looks fine in the pictures, but it can be hard to tell without actually putting your hands on the dog. I usually go by being able to easily feel the ribs, but not see them. Henry is on a wee bit of a diet at the moment, although my boyfriend thinks I'm crazy and tells me he looks fine, lol. I'd rather have them on the lean side though.

I keep mine so that if they lie on their side, I can run my hand lightly over them and feel every rib (not just some vague "there are ribs here" feeling, but feel the outline of each rib).

For mine, that means about 27 or 28 for Maddie, and around 35 for Jack.  He's currently 33 though and while he is maybe a little thin, I won't go out of weigh to put weight on him.

Jack is nearly 14 inches tall at the shoulder, though.

our 1 yr old male weighs 32 pd and i think he looks trim. Our 4 yr old female weighs 35 pds and the vet said she should be at 30pds.. (hubby was over feeding, had to tell him to STOP)!
I agree that it depends on the dog. Potus and his family seem to run larger in size (height/length) than most Corgis we've met so he seems to run a little heavier too. His vet says he is in good condition though.

I was surprised on a rare vet visit last month (rabies shots) to learn that Al is under 24 lbs. and Gwynnie barely 20 lbs.  Still not sure I trust the vet's scale.

If, as Jane says, "... a male corgi in top shape should weight about 28#", that's just the center of the bell curve, and you have to remember to expect variation -- and that corgis will do everything in their power to skew that bell curve as far to the heavier side as possible.
