Thanks to all of you who shared opinions last month about introducing a new dog to our home. We miss Maggie terribly, but decided 2 weeks ago that it was time to get another Corgi. Abbie is a tri-colored Pembroke Welsh Corgi. She is absolutely precious - - - and full of energy.
I counseled with an animal behaviorist (Carol Carino) for a few days before making the final decision. If you recall, we were afraid that Monty, our other Corgi who just turned 11, would not welcome a new puppy. Carol provided great instruction, and with a few modifcations in behavior (on both our part and Monty's), we were all confident that it would work out.
It has been 2 weeks, and with a lot of attention going Monty's way, everyone is doing very well. And Abbie has settled in beautifully. We are even getting to the "play stage". We realize as Abbie grows, we will be faced with new challenges, but we are making progress every day.
We hope that Monty and Abbie will become life-long friends.
I've attached a few photos of Abbie (and Monty).
Thanks again for your advice,
Sandi
