I know puppies virtually don't shed until they develop the outer coat.

Zion is 4.5 months now and has a full thick outer coat.  It's dense and very hair-like, not fur.  I remember when I was reading about Corgi months ago, everyone warned of the incessant, ungodly amount of shedding. I braced myself for this and got a Corgi anyway.

He sheds, but it's really minimal.  It's definitely far far nowhere near what people made it to be.

I dogsat my friend's puggle.  And THAT creature shed EVERYWHERE in my room.  He would leave a layer of hair on my cloth sofa just by sitting on it.

I can paste and roll Zion the same sofa and I can count the hair with my fingers.

Did I get one of the fabled minimal-shedding corgis?  Or does he have to wait til older?  Again, his already fully developed coarse parts just don't shed.

hahahah too funny! but true
Nooo...........
i have the same thing:) teddy will be a year old on the 27th and he sheds but not like everyone describes. i too braced my self but my cats shed more than he does! lol
He will shed...just wait. 4.5 months is still very young - I don't think most corgis have their full adult coat until around age 2.
That is what I have heard also 18-24 months for their full coat
Nooo; tell me it isn't so! I just brushed a pound of fur out of my 10-month-old!
It's coming:) I was at a dinner party when Milly was that age and I was wearing black. I said to someone "not even a hair" and she laughed. She got the last laugh for sure:) Milly started shedding tons about the time she turned one. My advice, start investing in lint rollers now, lol.
give him a few months... it will happen...
We will talk again in the spring...
To see how you are doing!
Oh, sorry, hate to break it to you but the real shedding won't start until the first spring after the first winter with an adult coat.

So Zion will probably have a modest shed in spring of 2011, then have first winter with adult coat NEXT year and start with the big sheds in spring of 2012.

Enjoy it while it lasts. :-)
Ella sheds, but not as bad as I've seen some corgis. I try to brush her once a week with just a human comb. Then in the spring and in the fall the furminator gets taken out to get the big shed clumps. I think it really depends on the dog. But expect a bit more shedding once your dog gets a bit older. Just keep up on the combing and vacuuming and you'll be just fine.
