Trixie has a sprained knee! How do I keep her from going crazy during two weeks of rest??

Trixie started limping last night after a rough game of tennis ball on the hill down the street from our house. This morning, it was worse - during our morning walk, she hopped on three legs and struggled to do her business gracefully. Now the vet says her knee is officially sprained and she can only have bathroom breaks in the yard, on leash, for two weeks. No walks at all! She is so active, I am afraid she will lose her mind (and maybe I will too...) Any ideas from anyone who's had to enforce "rest" before??

Good Luck! That's all I can say is it isn't easy. I would limit her outside time to only potty breaks at least that's when mine think they can run like crazy! Maybe get or give her good, well like chew toys or toys with hidden treats to give her something to do while she is having to limit here running?Limit her area in the house to so that she can't run there also!
Izzy recently did this too. It does not sound as bad as Trixie's but I just skipped her walks and leashed her outside. She was fine after a week but was pretty forlorn when I took the others out for their walks. If you have to you can leash her in the house to keep her still. They are not very good at taking care of of themselves. Sometimes you just have to be the bad guy for their own good. Hope she is better soon!
Thanks, Jane & Bev! I did get a new feeder toy, which she still of course ate in four minutes (I counted!) And I dug out a baby gate to keep her in one room rather than all over the house. But boy, does she ever look forlorn!
Ouch, I spent a summer with my foot in a cast, and I got kinda cranky after awhile. Good luck Trixie.
I bet this is really hard on Trixie with all the fun hiking you do with her. I also had Livvy limping after over doing it with a tennis ball and a slight hill but she didn't sprain anything. I learned that because she puts 200% into going after those balls that I needed to shorten the distance and not let her do this on a hill! Just a thought!
Hey, how did this knee thing resolve itself?
We had to keep Seanna confined to the same for 3 months after her ACL surgery.  (And the two weeks prior).  I went and bought a puppy pen, the wire ones that you can set up anywhere.  There's a picture of her in it on my site.  It worked wonders, and saved our lives.  She actually enjoyed it, as it gave her enough room to move around, she could be with us anywhere, but it kept her quiet.  It was well worth the $80.
Wow - thanks. Happily, Trixie is back to her normal, peppy, limp-free self now. I hope I don't end up needing the pen, but I'll keep it in mind! So far, keeping both her and her brother on daily Glyco-flex has maintained their joints very well. And we are careful not to push it if we've had a long hike or thrown a lot of tennis balls - just have to keep it in check! Because you know that indomitable corgi spirit will make them keep going and going and going....
Jennifer,We also used the puppy pen for our corgi's 2 acl surgeries. We had bought the pen to take rving with Us,for campsites that don't like wild crazy dogs!!Merlin just had his 2nd surgery 3 weeks ago,so we are in that lovely rehab time.If our girl Keri gets thru this sane, that will be the ticket.
