The most important factor is personality. In general terms, most people will have the fewest problems with a male/female pair. Two neutered males is the second-best choice for most people.
The best bet is probably to have your new breeder assess your current dog and then pick a pup who will complement Mason.
I've heard male/male (neutered males) or male/female is great but female/female may have issues. I have a male/female combination with both spayed/neutered early and they get along fantastically! Orion is about a month and a half older than Laika and I've never had any issues with them. When I first brought Laika home Ori was a little skeptical and seemed kind of afraid of her and sat on me a lot more often than he had before, but they settled in great. I think as long as you don't have two competing personalities they'll do fine together so I'd look at things like how dominant the dog is. Orion is really submissive and Laika is really dominant so she can be pretty bossy but Ori is laid back enough that he just doesn't seem to really care.
Good luck with your new puppy picking!
LOL, after looking through about 100 pages, I finally found the couple of discussions I remembered reading about this issue! They both have lots of great opinions. I personally have a male and can't wait to get another male. All of my past female dogs (and cats) had attitudes, while my boys have always been pretty easy going. Its definitely a personality thing, but I would way rather have 2 males than anything else. Anyway, here are the 3 discussions I was trying to find for you, as well as a 3rd discussion about getting a 2nd corgi that you might find interesting!

I have M/F from the same liter and the good doctor said that was the best combo. I also got the same word from the trainer who by the way is Zac George from Animal Planet. He was the trainer when Coco and Dino were in basic training.
And the male, Dino is her boss. When he doesnt want to play no one plays. I sometimes think he is my boss as well.© 2024 Created by Sam Tsang. Powered by
