Mendy, I just looked at your pictures and love them! Your corgis remind me of my first corgi, Boo. I'm a native Hoosier (Indianapolis) who is now a confirmed Westerner. We are hoping to get another corgi pup soon.

Well, you know dogs just don't understand people reading! To them, you're just doing nothing, and you really should be paying attention to them! Scout gets so frustrated when I spend time reading the paper in the morning--he starts this high-pitched whining that just drives me nuts!

I'm going to get Angels Game, as I loved Shadow of the Wind.

Mendy,
I'm excited that you've read Shadow of the Wind and the Angels Game too. Which did you like better?

I haven't read Edgar Sawtelle (I've heard a lot of mixed reviews on this one) or Under the Dome. I haven't read many S. King books but I'll take a look at that one and see what it's about.

Loved Shadow of the Wind and Angels Game. Loved Edgar Sawtelle ( and Almondine). Has anyone read Under the Dome by Steven King ( he is a corgi owner, with corgi heros in his books). Loved it too! Those are my top 4 in the past 6 months. Also, my dogs don't like for me to read, or type on the computer. I am being assaulted with a slobery frizbee on one side, and a hand flipping 'pet me' on the other.

You're very welcome.

I can't imagine life without dogs and books. I think I'd go mad!

I'm sorry for your loss. I hope we can motivate you to take up reading again. It really is a good way to escape reality. Dealing with everything going on in my life right now I often escape to one of my books.

Shadow of the Wind is still my favorite between that and Angel's Game but my husband likes the Angel's game better. You'll have to let me know what you think once you read it.

I havent read the Angel's Game but I found it on amazon and I will order it today. I lost my book buddy last summer and she was the one who told me about Shadow of the Wind. She was the one I always looked to for book guidance and never steered me wrong. I must admit that since losing her I have been in mourning and havent read anything since and my books are piling up. This club is just what I need. I know she is looking down from the Heavens and smiling. Her enthusiasm for books was contagious.

I think it could potentially be a good movie depending how it's made. If the director is a fan of the book I think it could be great! If the director reads the script but barely or doesn't know the book it could become overly dramatic. Overall though, I think/hope it'll be a good movie.

Luke,
I'm glad to hear that you liked Water for Elephants. I had read something online that said people who enjoyed it also really liked Shadow of the Wind and since that's one of my favorite books, I'm really excited to read Water for Elephants. Having read it, do you think it will make a good movie?

LaVerne & Shirley,
At last, someone else who has read Shadow of the Wind! I too rarely meet anyone else who has read it. Did you read the prequel that came out called the Angel's Game? If not, you have to read it!
