Another way my life revolves around my Corgi...

Posted on January 28, 2011 at 8:04pm 6 Comments

So I broke my foot in September and unfortunately developed a chronic condition that affects the nerves. I went to a new doctor today to try a new treatment and she wants me to try Cymbalta. The first thing I said was "Oh cool, that is the Corgi drug". The look on her face made me realize that I might sound a little crazy so I had to explain I have a Corgi and that he looks just like the dog on the Cymbalta commercial. I think she still had questions about my sanity but laughed it off and moved… Continue

Happy for the Cold!

Posted on November 24, 2010 at 9:49am 5 Comments

Not sure if anyone else's corgi has this issue but Monty has just blown his winter coat thanks to a nice warm fall. In Northern Virginia we had a few days of cold weather that excited the fuzz butt to no end and his beautiful coat came in nicely. Then it went away and the humans enjoyed a nice 3 week spell of 60 and 70 degree weather. Unfortunately this is too warm for Monty's winter coat and he has been shedding it all over the house for the past week. He is back to his trim Spring self just… Continue

New home. New Schedule

Posted on August 30, 2010 at 1:36pm 3 Comments

Monty and I are settling into our new home, a townhouse in northern virginia. It was a little crazy for Monty but he is definitely getting used to the new digs and my new roommate has showered him with lots of massages. We also have lots of new trails to explore.

We will also have a new schedule as I am now very close to work. Now three days a week instead of going to daycare while I am at the office he will be staying at home with lunch visits from me. I get to work from…

The Beach and Fleas

Posted on June 28, 2010 at 8:34am 5 Comments

Monty and I just got back from Duck, NC and had a great time. He loved the beach and all the stairs at the beach house! He would attack the waves and frap about in the sand. He made lots of other doggie friends as Duck is very doggie friendly. Unfortunately we did have one issue. FLEAS! He is on Frontline and plays in the woods everyday with no problem but it seems the Southern sand fleas are immune and latched on to the poor guy. I went to the local dog store and got some neem spray and soap… Continue

Trials of owning a low-rider

Posted on January 14, 2010 at 11:45am 9 Comments

Ah the joys of owning a low-riding Corgi! This morning, Monty and I went out for our morning walk before I had to leave for the auto shop to bring my car in for an alignment. All was good until we made the turn on our road and a piece of plastic bag began blowing past that little curious mouth. I guess it had something tasty on it because before the words "drop it" even began to form he looked up at me and swallowed the whole piece (about 4x6) in size.

Losing all Mommy cool, I… Continue

My corgi, Max, is also from a breeder in TN. By chance, is your puppy from Immer Essen Farm?

Hi Monty's Mom. I was looking at Monty's pictures (the foot prints in the sand attracted my attention, Great pic) and saw his pic in front of the Capital. That is a really cool photo! If you would like I can remove the people from the background for you. Just send me a Jpeg file to reddogsii@aol.com and I'll fix it up as soon as I can get to it. Good job!!!

I see you are from Frederick, a little closer than we are. We didn't go to the parade. Before this digital TV came in I could tune in to the Washington channels. No more but Maryland said it was alredy raining and snowing from Hagerstown west. We chickened out I didn't think pushing a stroller in snow would be fun and that trip home on ice last year indellibly engraved. That was so crazy it was dry, crisp but nothing happening in Middleburg I just started seeing white along the edges of Rt 50 then the flashing lights, lots of them all the way home. So-o I cried on my boots all day & watched the video from last year several times .

I've heard 5 times out of 8 years it has snowed on 12-05. Humm I've already checked next year it will be on 12-04.10. We just might get lucky.

That's pretty great that Monty had a fun vacation too! What a nice place - I will be sure to tell my cousins who live in Frederick as well.

Hello! I noticed you actually live fairly close to me. I have friends in Hagerstown and Frederick and I live in Frostburg (I teach at Frostburg State). Monty is so cute! I just got my first corgi, Stella, and she is a little over 12 weeks old. Do you know many other corgi owners in the area? It seems like a lot of people on this site are on the west coast.
