I am trying not to post too much here about the bad, but since it's rare that she really is "bad", I figure I just need to vent now. Usually Poppy is really good about doing her business when I take her outside. She knows the schedule and gets it all done then. But last night when I was trying to go to bed, she was being extra whiny. I wasn't sure if she needed to get more energy out (we didn't go for our normal hike this weekend, which I now know she NEEDS to tie her over for a few days) or…

Our yard is quite sandy and frequently has ants and other such items so I put poison down to keep control of them but it never fails my corgis seem to be getting ate up by something outside. I havent put stuff down in sometime and I go out there and look and there is nothing out there. Last time I brought Bonnie to the vet because I thought it was something more, she said just give her a benadryl to help her through the itching. Well that is good and all helped the first time. I wash them…

Hi Everyone! I just turned double digits, 10 to be exact. And they told me I wouldn't live pass 2...what do they know!! Thank goodness my first Mom didn't give up and found a doctor (vet) that knew what was wrong (Addison's disease). The others guys wanted to send me to doggie heaven!!! So what if I have to take prednisone for the rest of my life! I am a happy girl living…

Hello fellow and future Corgi owners. I am new to this site as of today and I have to say it is very helpfull and informative and I wish I had this when my Corgi Mika was a pup. I do however have a question and hoping somebody can help me out with it. ... Mika is very loyal and very protective of me and it is okay when we are in my apt. but out side on her leash I cant trust any body to bend down and pet her with out the fear of mika nipping. I would call a trainer but she is so stubborn I…

After our big winter storm, we had an unseasonable warm and sunny weekend in Seattle. Spring fever hit and I felt the need to get out and climb to the top of something. A lowland hike along a river just wasn't going to cut it today. I needed a view and I needed to work for it. I didn't want to get all geared up for snow, however, so I found the perfect place. Mt Walker in the Olympic National Forest. It was a grinding 2000 ft elevation gain in 2 miles, but the trail was in good…

I have come to the conclusion that I really don't think Truck is going to work out for me. He is just too timid and does not cope well with change. I know I should give him a full month, but I've given him a bit over 3 weeks and have seen minimal improvement. My dad came over to stay a few nights and since he has been in the house Truck has been very uncomfortable and nervous. My dad is very soft spoken and dog friendly and Truck will snuggle up to him, but the new person in the house has…

Things have been going very well for both of us. It took nearly 3 months, but I think Poppy finally knows the schedule. There has been no pee in the pen while I have been at work in nearly 3 weeks! YAY!
The shy dog class we go to once a week has been good for both of us. We are both learning new skills and while she isn't exactly "treat motivated" (so un-corgi like!) I feed her her dinner by practicing our skills and that seems to work well for about 10 minutes a day. Also, I forgot…

Lucy came with me to work today. We are having our fence rebuilt and she didn't like to tools the guys were using to build the fence so I felt bad leaving her home alone all day. I just didn't want her to be stressed. She had a non stressful day at the office, unless you count all of the tiring petting that she had to endure. She did great …
ContinueNo puppy yet. Last night, I took Scout to the grocery store with me to pick up a couple things. And sitting outside the store was a dad, his son, and a corgi!
Of course, I turned into crazy corgi lady and got way too excited. He was a little under a year old, hadn't filled out all the way, and ALL EARS! His name is Tank, and they live only a couple of blocks from where I do now! I got Scout out of the car and they got along awesome! Tank wanted to play more than Scout liked, but…

I'm worried about my little guy. We came home from our walk and he started panting heavily. I didn't think anything of this at first since it makes sense he'd be overheated from walking. But then He kept following me around and I noticed he's trembling. I took him to the vet about 3 weeks ago to the day for ingesting xylitol. I had taken him to vet, induced vomiting soon after the incident, given him liver pills, and noticed no change in his behavior. The only thing out of the ordinary today…

I wonder if there are many Michigan corgi owners on here? It'd be fun to create a group for us.

There is a cute tri-colored corgi in the Jackson Animal Shelter. He is on Petfinder. Anyone looking for a new family member? I hate seeing corgis in shelters!! Wish I could get him myself but just can't.
