Flying your corgis

We plan to take Jackson on our next trip to Jacksonville, FL. We've been there many times, and now we want to take our little Jackson with us. Ive heard of some pet airways, but I want to do some more research. Any suggestions?

Update from the last post

Well things are getting better with Murphy staying away from Stella. I have been trying the spray bottle technique and its been going very well. He hates it and I think he's afraid of being sprayed which definitely makes him more hesitant to go after her. Over the weekend, Stella laid on the floor and Murphy just stayed away, watching her, but he made no sudden movements or anything. We have also been leaving her food down again to see if he might learn to stay away from it so that way she can… Continue

Midas ran away....

Sorry for such a delay on this story guys. We have been out of town(my mom's birthday bash), and when we got back our internet and cable was out.

So, Midas and Dozer normally just go for walks with me since I am home during the morning and evening. Lately Zach has been working nights and sleeps in the morning, so therefore misses our lovely walks to the dog park and back. Well yesterday we had to take a 3hr trip to my parents house. So we decided to bring the dogs. I gave Zach the… Continue

Easy Summer Corgi Treats

During the hot weather lots of folks will give their dog an ice cube to munch on. The dogs seem to enjoy crunching them and probably enjoy the cold on their mouths since dogs otherwise cannot sweat like we humans and worse, are trapped inside a permanent fur suit.

Poor Gromit, big hairy fellow that he is, is suffering through his first Arizona summer.… Continue

Sally's News

We're still waiting to take Sally to the vet for further testing, but the more that I think about it the more that her symptoms fit really well with a dog that has a liver shunt.
Sally has actually been to the doctor two other times, the first for a bad case of diarrhea, and the second because of vomiting. Neither case in itself would indicate a liver shunt, but put together with the collapse and apparent seizure, and it really fits the bill.
I'm hoping that it's the kind that's…

Home from the Vet

We just got home a little while ago with Buddy. The Vet is about an hour away from our house, so Buddy was a little uncomfortable but he's doing pretty good considering the long drive. I tried to get him to go potty when we got home, but no dice. I carried him up the stairs and into the house and he pr

etty much has stayed where I left him. He drank a bowl full of water, but isn't very interested in food yet. I finally got him to lay down and I rolled him on his back, this is his favorite… Continue

Baxter's First Birthday

I never thought I'd turn out to be the kind of person that would have a birthday party for a dog. I guess that is something that owning a corgi or a Baxter might do to you.

Yesterday was Baxter's 1st birthday. I made him a dog-friendly carrot cake. My boyfriend wrapped up his presents. Baxter seemed to know something was going on. I'm not usually in the kitchen cooking, so there must be something unusual happening. When the cake was…

Wynstan tries to be nice

I took Wynstan over to a friend's house and everyone was absolutely in love with him. He took all of the pictures with a gallant stride.

Then there is this one, it seems that he was just trying to force a smile with this lady. It kind of reminds me of the fake smile that Mr. Fox had in Wes Anderson's Fantastic Mr Fox.

Poor Didi

Poor little Didi had a big day today.

Yesterday I was idly picking at my dogs teeth when I saw that Didi's back-top tooth was cracked and a chunk of it was moving back and forth. GROSS!

So I scheduled to come in today. She was put under and they were able to remove the chip and seal the tooth. The root wasn't exposed by the chip so they were able to save the tooth. Hurray!

455$ dollars later I have a drowsy dog with clean teeth and half of one tooth gone.

Also gone are all the… Continue

Murphy is stressing out Stella :o(

We took Stella, our cat, to the vet for her annual appointment. Before we took her we had noticed a few months before that she was losing her fur around her belly and lower areas, but we had just thought that it wasn't anything to worry about. The vet noticed right away that she had a large patch of fur missing and said that it was a form of Feline Alopecia. He had said that there are different types and it can be caused from many different thing including stress which is what Chris and I think… Continue

Is sick of editorial letters condemning dogs in public!

I have been responding to a handful of letters in my local newpaper (Stevens Point Journal) complaining about dogs in public. A few bad dog owners misbehave and we're all condemned and ridiculed for taking our dogs out in public. We have a beautiful public park nearby, and an open air Farmer's Market. I've been criticized in both locations for allowing Molly to accompany me. Neither is posted for no dogs. She is well behaved, and in the rare instance that she answers the call of nature in… Continue

Rude Behaviour?

Our next door neighbor has a 9 year old Akita who she regularly walks and takes to the same dog park Casey and I frequent. This Akita met Casey for the first time when Casey was just a pup (about 3 months old) and, being that we live next door to one another, has met Casey numerous times on and off-leash (at the aforementioned dog park) since that time.…

The Big Snip!

Orion is saying bye-bye to his balls tomorrow and though I've watched it done hundreds of times its totally different when its your own dog. I'll be able to be with him and help monitor his vitals while he's being neutered. I helped with my brother's dog and I was okay with it but I put in his catheter, I probably won't be putting in Orion's. I'd probably be too nervous I'd mess up to put in his catheter, haha. Anyways, I will be bringing home a very groggy drugged-up corgi tomorrow so wish him… Continue

Feeling horrible about neutering Buddy. :(

Hey everyone,

Normally Becca makes all the posts, but I (Kevin) had to come here for support today. Tomorrow, Buddy is scheduled to get neutered and have the home again chip "installed"... I feel like a horrible person for doing this. I am currently unemployed and I am with Buddy every waking moment of our lives and I can't even look at him without my eyes welling up. I just feel horrible about having this done. Right now he is smiling and all happy…

Our First Move

Wow. Time has just FLOWN by over here in Jackson land. Pup is now 9 months, somewhat behaved, somewhat protective, and really just the best furry baby a gal could ask for.

Tomorrow we are packing the car and driving 7 hours to our new home in Long Beach! Jackson is fairly well traveled and seems to be easily adaptable with all the trips we've taken. But I can't help to be nervous for my little guy. There are going to be a lot of new surroundings and different experiences for him...… Continue

Help! Baron can't eat or drink with collar on.

Baron got home today from the big snip. He can't eat or drink without me holding the bowls for him. Help! I have to go back to work tomorrow.

Sally had a seizure

This morning Sally collapsed after our walk and couldn't move. I carried her up the stairs to our apartment and she was still unresponsive, she couldn't move at all. As I raced her to the vet she began to jerk around uncontrollably and her eyes glassed over. She started to get a little better as the vet looked her over and was able to stand on her legs again by the time they were done examining her. The vet is going to keep her overnight and run bloodwork on her to try to find out a… Continue
