We have a new friend!!

I posted a blog entry last night about possibly adopting a 1yr old female Pembroke at my county's high-kill shelter. Faye and I went to go see her this morning and I fell in-love with her immediately. When they were in the social area they sniffed each other and didn't seem too interested in each other. Toki's Family Reunion

We took Toki to Cleveland, TX last weekend to visit her family and for me and my boyfriend, Cody, to meet her parents for the first time. It was a great trip, I know Toki had a blast and my breeder shared so many wonderful tips on corgi raising with me. We also found out her dad has minor allergies and she recommended a few things for me to try.

Rescuing a corgi from a high-kill shelter

She's listed as a "Welsh Corgi - Cardigan Mix," but if you look at her picture you can clearly see that she's a Pembroke. She's a year old and smaller than my 4yr old female. I have concerns because I've heard that two females usually don't get along, but I've found that Faye doesn't like males that much either. Jasper's last set of Puppy Shots!

Jasper got his last set of puppy shots today! I feel like he's growing up so fast! He's 18 weeks old today and weighed in at a healthy 18.5 lbs. He was such a good boy and didn't even flinch when he got his shots. The only problem is that he is still a cryptorchid. I think that's just the way he's going to be, since the vet says his other testicle is all the way up in his abdomen still, but I think I'm going to wait until he's 6 months old to get him neutered just in case it drops. Fluffy Cardi?

I've been looking at pictures of fluffy corgis, I just love them. I wouldn't trade Dax for anything, but I love the fluffy look! I just realized a while ago, though, that the only fluffies I've ever seen are pembrokes. And this might be a stupid question (and/or the result of me just being oblivious), but are there any fluffy cardigans? Do they exist? Shedding

Charlie is shedding lots at present! He is ten months and he is losing so much fur. He is Pembroke tricolour. Is this normal? I got ten brushes full of fur off him two days in a row this week.... Any advice would be appreciated.

Eye Irritation- Do I need to take him to the vet?

Henry has some sort of eye irritation. I noticed last night that he was squinting a little with that I eye and when I checked it, it was bloodshot but I didn't see any foreign objects in it. So this morning I checked again and it's still the same. It doesn't seem to be bothering him though, cause he hasn't scratched at it or rubbed his face on the ground. I've been trying to do some research about it online. Conjunctivitis?

Last set of puppy shots!!!!! Yes!

Today the veterinarian wasn't our regular one. So the experience kind of sucked. She squirted his corona booster all over the place.. She took forever with doing his rabies vac, so Eddy got all yippy and squirmy and wiggly, and she had to get a helper. Then she lectured me, "Corgis are very protective of their bodies. Fostering to Adopting?

I don't know, after the fiasco yesterday I've been seriously considering Milo. I love the boy--he's the best dog I've ever had the pleasure to be with in my short life. Back from vacation

Just got back from Alaska. Eddy's safe and sound, but huuuge! He got a lot of exercise. But I'm pretty sure he received no discipline, at least, he sure is acting like it.
3rd shots are due this week.
My sister said she thinks he has a flea infestation... but her dogs are on Frontline Plus, and Eddy is on Sentinel... sooo, unlikely, right? I'll have to flea-comb him before bed.
Ahhh, it's good to be home! I Heart Portland.

Frustrated with Fostering

I'm not frustrated at Milo at all (except when he goes to bark mode and that grates me a little bit at times.) It's more about the people I'm fostering from--they are driving me crazy. Actually, they've been driving me crazy from the get go and I was hoping it would improve but it is only get worse with time.

Long Memorial day weekend

My weekend with Matt went great! Missed our daughter but we had lots of artwork done of her! Apparently Maui had an absolute BLAST at her breeder's place with one of her older sister's, Fiona. They played till they passed out, they romped and frapped, and I see that maui underwent a growth surt while we lef! Poor thing looks like she needs a sandwich but I know whe will get that way from time to time as she grows.

Therapy Dog in Training!

We are so proud of our little Sidney! He passed his Therapy dog test after 6 weeks of classes.

Now he just has to complete 10 hours of supervised visits and he will become a fully certified therapy dog!

Since my daughter is Sidney's handler, she will probably start with the visits after she graduates in June.

Broken Family: Week 1

My first week went off without a hitch... I actually discovered a few new bus routes we can take to minimize the load on my back when I was carrying Dash in his Sherpa in/out of the subway. It's actually pretty nice since I have to backtrack less, the timing is pretty similar to the subway, and he gets even more opportunities to hit the dog runs before and after my work. Having Dash on my own actually whipped me into better shape in terms of getting to work on time haha!

So here's what my silly boy did TODAY. . . . . .

When I got home from work, I took him outside, then brought him in and gave him his dinner. I took Josie outside while he was eating.

I get back in, and there's this THING in his food dish. At first I thought he had thrown up in there or something. Then I look closer -- it's one of his SQUIRRELS!!! He finished all of his dinner, and then put one of his toy squirrels IN HIS DISH!!!!

Not sure WHY -- unless he's saying he wants squirrel for dinner! He's such a little goofball!

Satellite ears = Foxtail magnets!

We had beautiful weather this weekend and decided to take a hike out in Rattlesnake Canyon. No, we didn't see any snakes (did see their tracks across the trails, though). But on the way back out of the canyon, Sidney suddenly started rubbing his head against the ground and whimpering. We checked his ear out...we found a small cut on the tip but that was all.
