As I am beginning to put my grief into perspective, and cling to the good memories of our life with Stinky Wink, I am learning to look at that life from different angles. And I am finding that it was even better than I thought it was when grief was clouding my every thought. Last night I was looking at a couple of Corgi Rescue websites. There are some truly sad stories there. One seven-year-old lady had spent the majority of her life in a puppy mill. Now it is taking some real adjustment for…

I am getting the purple Dyson vac as a graduation present--it's getting delivered to my apartment on March 14. I have never been so excited about a cleaning product.

Sorry to say, that not much has actually happened today... The whole day seems boring and sleepy. Foxy just seems lazy, as usual. He likes to watch me, sitting at my laptop while listening to music while he lays sideways on the floor. I do think it's funny, that when he's on his side, his legs never touch the floor... their just stubs sitting out of his corgi body. His eyebrows move a lot. He expresses himself through his eyebrows. Almost all dogs do.

I know that I have not been on much, but I have had lots and lots of things going on. I am now back that my life has settled back done a bit. Cheyenne is going great although she is on a weight loss plan as she has gotten a bit too fat for her size. She is adjusting to life with a new puppy ( we just got a male rott/coonhound mix on 2/24)

I have become convinced recently that one of the aspects that impedes grief management and healing is the mistaken idea that healing means forgetting. And we don't want to forget our beloved pets. But nothing could be further from the truth! The rough and winding road to healing is not a straight line from point A to point B, as much as we might like for it to be. But neither is it an endless road. The truth is that we need to follow that road with our pet. No, I'm…

Two weeks ago today, Brodie showed up in our yard, ready to help us do chores. In that length of time, we have gone from wondering how to find his owner, to being overjoyed he chose to live with us.
On day one, he chose to stay in our yard and 'help' us with the construction on my mother's house. As my mother-in-law and I worked on clearing out a fence row of brambles, he alternated between trying to pull out the branches for us and running through the thick grass in search of…

Stinky Wink was a gift from our older son. He and his wife had two Corgi boys from the same litter, and PawPaw took care of them during the day, since I had a job then, where I could mostly work from home. When they got a divorce and she moved to another state, she took the boys with her. I was devastated. In addition, we had just lost our 17-year-old Cocker mix, who died in his sleep. One day, here came Adam with Stinky Wink. Although there had been three other dogs in my life, Wink was the…

Foxy was born on Thanksgiving.
He's really big
He's needy
He's a home body
When he barks, he sounds like a really big dog
He likes to play Ball (I would call it fetch, but he only brings the ball half way back to me)
He likes people
He overheats fast
He's always happy
He's lazy as can be
He's laid back
He likes it when I read out loud
He hates it when people cry/fight/yell (He cowers and hides in the corner…

Hello loves! Day three! I may post another thing like "Foxy day 3 pt 2" Or something later. But anyway...
Foxy is currently, running like a little rocket ship outside right now with our other dog. They keep into the house and it makes a loud thump sound... I worry about them some times. Though, Foxy is really sturdy.
I'll tell you a little bit more about Foxy. He hates trips. Like travel. We took him down to our cabin a few years ago, about six hours from home... He…

Foxy and I have a little game we sometimes play... He starts it though, it's my morning alarm clock. I'll be in bed, sleeping, and almost exactly at 6 am, when I need to get up and get ready for school, Foxy come trotting in happily. My leg usually always hangs over the side of the bed, and he's able to reach up and nibble my foot, or pull my sock off. We call it the sock game... Well to him it's a game, but to me it's a wake up call. I don't even need to set my alarm anymore, because he's…

We did it! We made it to the 40 day mark with our new fur babies. And what a wild ride it has been!
Our first Corgi, Corky, has been an absolute joy, albeit very active. She loves to play! Our second Corgi, Auggie, had a slightly rockier start. He came down with a severe case of kennel cough from the shelter, and it took him quite a while and a couple worried vet visits to get through it. On top of that, he apparently has turned out to be a chewer, specializing in rocks…

Hello again, this is blog post 2 of day 2 about my corgi Foxy.
Currently, Foxy is in the middle of the floor chewing on his afternoon chewie I give him every day. He seems relaxed and happy, every once and a while, he steals a glance at my other dog Blue, (He's a mutt) and looks at him like "No.. this is MINE." Even though Blue has a chewie too.

It's raining this morning. We need it after the dry summer and fall of last year, and even the moisture-less winter. Even though Stinky Wink loved snow, he really disliked rain. If the rain wasn't too heavy, he would "permit" a short walk. I would don jacket, umbrella, get the leash, and we would usually go to the top of the front lawn. He'd lift his leg a couple of times and head back to the house. If it was raining hard and I knew he needed to go out, I'd open the patio door. He would…

Well, yesterday was kind of eventful-as far as Ziggy is concerned, anyhow.
The night before last, it started snowing before I got to take Ziggy out for his walk. I wanted to take him then, but after taking him potty in the snow, it was clear he wasn't digging the cold, he wanted to go back home. So we skipped then, but I made up for it yesterday with a walk that more than doubled our usual stroll. By far. Usually, we only walk through the park near my apartments and roundabout back to…

Six more days and it's been a month... and I still get that speedy heart flutter thinking about the email I got back from Katie, the amazing girl who contacted me back, though there were a lot of other people who replied before me:) I still have the email:
"Hey!
So the lady hasn't replied to my emails at all. So you can give me a call and we can figure out a time for you to come see him=). I would like to be able to rehome him before Friday because I am going…

When I took Foxy down to the dog park, he would always group with the big dogs. But one time, right before Easter, he got into the backyard of the people next to us, because his much loved tennis ball went through it. He some how managed to get over into their yard, and their dog.... Moose... Attacked him. I saw the whole thing. Foxy tried to get away but Moose was HUGE next to him. and kind of tore him up badly. He's fine now, he's happy as can be, but every time we take him to the dog park…

Foxy has a night time routine every night. Ever since we got him he's done this.
He always sees me to bed, meaning, he comes with me, and gets in his bed that is located in the corner of my room and lies down and waits for me to settle in. I then turn out the light, and he stays there for a little bit. Then, he gets up quietly and goes into the living room and sleeps under the table. At first, I thought he would get hot and move to cooler areas around the house, but now that I think…
