October was a bad month.....

Haven't been on here in awhile. Things are finally slowing down a bit. As I stated in my last blog (I think) we moved to Endicott Washington and found a great farm house on six acres to rent. That was back the first of September. October was a busy and trying time for us. On the 27th of September (Sunday night about 11 pm) my dad, who is only 57, had a massive heart attack. Thank God my mom stopped at the fire station at the bottom of the hill (they live out of city limits in a somewhat wooded… Continue

Medical Problems w/update

She's had pancreatitis before and had heat stroke this summer. She has lameness in her hind legs and pain in her left shoulder. She is lethargic, drinking a lot and has developed a pot belly w/elevated liver enzymes. I just miss my happy, sweet girl. -_- The first vet i took her to last week was not helpful.... kept saying "oh watch out she's overweight, she's headed toward diabetes." Never mind that minus the pot belly she does not even look overweight. Her normal vet is going to see her… Continue

Ginger lost her first tooth!

I just had to share, I'm so excited! She's been kind of grumbly and really bitey lately and tonight when she was pitching a fit I noticed that she had a blank spot on her bottom jaw where a tiny little puppy tooth used to be.

So you think Im a CAT, do you?!?!

Is there ever a dull moment around here? No way, theres a corgi in the house, I mean cat, LOL.

For halloween this year Lance got to dress up as a cat, and I think it went to his head a bit too much!!! As I was checking emails, I noticed Lance looking for something, what, I wasnt sure. I continue reading my emails and a thought passes through my mind that maybe, just maybe one day Lance would jump onto his crate and walk the ledge of the… Continue

Sammy's First Week :)

A week ago Saturday, I brought a new Corgi into our lives. After Nora passed away, I was completely devastated. On top of being heartbroken, I felt so lonely. I had grown so accustomed to hearing tags on a collar, feeling a wet nose graze my hand, and always having a furry face to smile at. I found Sammy in a roundabout way. I had found a Corgi on Petfinder that was located relatively local to me. He sounded like a sweetheart so I contacted the rescue that was coordinating his adoption.…

At my wits end...okay it's not that bad but...

We moved into the new house in June. The house came with a dog door that is a bit big and high for corgis. The dog that was here before was a husky.

In June I worked with Bear and Goldy to go through the door - I followed all kinds of training advice. They would go right through it when the flap was up, but put the flap down and no go.

I understood their fear, the door is a bit high for them and they literally have to jump through it and I'm sure…

Chubby Pup

Hi. My 2 year old Corgi, LaVerne got injured and she had to have surgery on her shoulder. She wasnt svelte before the injury but now she has been on restricted activity,( only leash walked outside to go to the bathroom,) and she has gotten quite chunky. She is a little over 33 lbs! The Vet put her on Hills Prescription diet rd, but she had been throwing up and I suspect the food isnt agreeing with her. Does anyone have suggestions for a healthy diet dry kibble diet for her to go on? I know her… Continue

UTI?? Or bigger problem??

Hi everyone!! Dot is doing 100% better on her chewing up the carpet! Our problem now is, she is squatting a lot to pee, and at times nothing is coming out. I took her to the vet and they said might be a UTI, so they gave us meds. Meds did not work, so they ran a full unrine test on Dot and found a small trace of "crystals" in her urine. The vet suggested that i change Dots diet to a low protein diet with a supplement of cranberries and marshmellow mix. It has been 3 weeks and no change,…

We love Autumn!

My sister Maisie and I love this season - we love walking in the crisp evening air, the smell of fireplaces and munching bones on the back patio on our squishy new bed. We can't wait for Thanksgiving and Christmas when we get to hang out with dad in the kitchen with all the delicious smells and sit with mom, warming our chubby haunches by the fire!

2010 Annual Corgi Meetup in Taiwan

While we do not have Holloween here in Taiwan, but we do have the annual corgi meetup. People coming from all over the island come together to celebrate their short legged furry best friend. The last estimated I got there was over 500 people and over 300 Corgis showed up! We visit and talked with each other about our dogs and handed out treats to all of the dogs, none corgis included! There were pet products sponsors on hand to demo the products. Vets… Continue

Andy's New Forever Home

For those of you who have lost a cherised pet know the anguish, hurt and empty feeling that's left behind. I lost my Daisy on 8-13th of this year and I still cry for her. I only had her for 6 months but it seemed like forever.

On 10-30, my brother, George, received a call from his niece, Robin, up in Santa Barbara; about 2 1/2 hours North of us. She walks her dog on a path near the Marina and has made wonderful pet friends…

Kali's Adventure

Kali went to her first Pet Expo today. Lots of people and lots of dogs. Saw one Pembroke and two Cardigans. She got a ton of attention and comments. Of course, the majority of people had no idea what kind of dog she was. I got is she a Heinz 57 dog, a blue heeler and a mix with a dalamation - guess the spots make people think Dalamation. I gently informed them she was a full bred Corgi. She had a great day and is now very exhausted and sleeping like a baby.
