Hooves are banished! Antlers, welcome! Buy one if you haven't already!!

My vet is fantastic. I couldn't love him more. He calmly and patiently answers every question I have, is a busy vet who also does research for UC Davis Vet School outside of his practice so I know he's up to date on what I need to know for my little guy.

During our visit 2 days ago for Ollie's last puppy shots, I mentioned that sometimes Ollie spits up a tiny little bit of foamy vomit... no food, no bile, doesn't smell, doesn't slow him down, etc. Dr. Leslie immediately…

Tegan ate a fig...

Tegan ate a fig that fell off our tree. I checked online and got contradictory information. Some sites said they were potentially dangerous and at the least would cause diarrhea & stomach pain. Other sites said they shouldn't be a problem as long as she didn't eat too many. Right now she looks like absolutely nothing is wrong, but should I be concerned?

Corgi strange eating habits..

Do you have any situation where your corgi gubbles down the weirdest thing?

My Hayden was in the office with me some time ago, while I wrote a paper for school...next thing I see him coming with a small knee high stocking in his mouth by the time I call at him to drop it and reach out he made a bigggggg gulp and swallowed it. I was beside myself. Anyway, I am a nurse ans decided to do some nursing duties and gave him some hydrogen peroxide and burnt toast for him to vomit. He acted like it… Continue

Pembroke in Shelter

Hey all! There is a really cute male neutered Pembroke at the City of Tulsa animal shelter (Oklahoma). It looks like he's been there a week already, so I can't imagine he has much time left. If you are wanting another dog, he would be a great one. Now is not a good time for me financially to take in a foster, but I would love to see him find a home. If you are in the area, consider adopting him. If you are not, but would want to adopt him anyway, let me know and we might be able… Continue

The Destroyer!

Jackson just cant seem to get enough of toys. Whenever I give him a new toy, he breaks it in less than five minutes! People at my barn have recommended buying toys from the dollar store. Any suggestions?? Jackson really likes squeaky toys, when I will give a toy to him, he will just lie down on the floor and sqeak it non-stop, it drives me crazy! He tends to break them 5 minutes after I give it to him.

disaster averted!

YIKES! Dogs do roll in everything! We had a short-lived (thank goodness) septic problem, the pipe from the house to the septic tank was somehow crushed by rock. The corgi boys, delighted in rolling in the muck before it could be cleaned up totally, snacks were also tried - YUK! Hot hot day, my poor husband and our origanal contracter who came to help, and very excited dogs who did NOT want to remain on the porch caged in. Still a little more work to do today, at least it is cooler today. Boy,… Continue

Fresh flea treatment + rain = ?

So about 3 hours ago I put a flea treatment on Buddy. I know they are not supposed to get bathed for a few days after the treatment, but what about unexpected heavy rain? I honestly didn't even consider rain, but living on the east coast means dealing with unexpected thunderstorms all summer long.

Did I just throw money down the toilet, so to speak?

Now the next hurdle is getting him to go #2 outside in the rain.... He hasn't had an accident in the house in months, yet I just… Continue

Leg Trouble

Hi from California everyone! Cowboy is having an issue lately that we can't seem to figure out. He will be standing up and slowly but surely his butt just gets lower until he's sitting down. I know that this probably has something to do with age (he just turned 17 on June 19th) but he's showing no signs of pain or discomfort. I asked his vet about it and the vet said that he's not showing signs of arthritis and he's not aware of Corgi's having an issue like this without pain. I've started… Continue

Hey, don't steal my dog!

Actually, this is an odd one, and I know a lot of you post photos so I have to share this little bit of caution.

Normally, I don't mind my photos being passed along as long as there's a point back to me, or if it's for non-profit. However, someone out there actually well... stole my dogs and is claiming them as their own. (They didn't change Simon's name though, but they changed Caleb's. Poor Libbers, he always takes second fiddle to his big brother.)

I kind of…

Off we go!

So today is the day we go see Adora brother and see if he is a good fit to join our family, fingers are cross tight. This is going to be the second longest 2 hour trip we have taken (First was to pick up Adora our current and first corgi/first dog). I am now getter nervous about bringing in a second, though we have been wanting to since we first visited the litter at 6 weeks. I know Adora will be more than trilled ( She is a little social butterfly and would love another dog around to keep her… Continue

A beautiful day at the park rolling in yucky things...

We took Tegan to a beautiful park near us -- all of the trails are off-leash! The weather was perfect, the views were spectacular, and Tegan rolled in everything stinky she could find. Why do dogs do that? I know that in general the smellier something is, the more dogs like it, but the way she just dives onto things & rubs her entire head and body into it with such vigor is funny. At least on one hand, but it does leave her a little less than bath-time fresh. And it's usually stuff I can't… Continue

FOR ALL DOG LOVERS & NON DOG OWNERS

I saw this on facebook & thought I would share it.

Non-pet owners who visit & like to complain about our pets:

1. They live here. You don't.

2. If you don't want their hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture. That's why they call it 'fur'niture.

3. I like my pets a lot better than I like most people.

4. To you they are animals. To me they are my babies who are short, hairy, walk on all fours and don' t speak…

What is the nastiest thing your dog has ever rolled in?

Well, since I live next to the beach, I'm taking advantage of it! Waffle loves to chase crabs the most. But, yesterday, he found something he loved even more than chasing crabs...

Oh god. What is that thing?! We went for a walk, and from a distance, it looked like a deflated beach ball. Oh, I wish it were a deflated beach ball. It was a dolphin head. It had been…

His health is getting better & better everyday & acting like a corgi more & more evryday. Bentley hates the out cat. He all out wants to rip him apart its very scary. He does… Continue

Snap Pea Shells

Hey Everyone. At work we usually have raw vegie treats every day, it's the season for snap peas. We've been givin Archie the long shells that the peas are in. Then I thought about it, are they OK for him, and does someone have a list or a link for things we shouldn't feed them. Chocolate is obvious, but aside from that? THANKS KRISTIN

How old to spay?

I have a 16 week old puppy named Olive. Our vet said that we could have her spayed any time after she is 5 months old. I was talking to Olive's breeder yesterday and she recommended that we wait until she is at least 8-9 months old. The breeder said that would allow her body to fill out and mature. She said that Corgis that are spayed too early tend to be longer legged and racier. She also said that Corgis generally don't go into heat until 9-12 months of age. What do you all think?? This is my… Continue

He is my best boy.

I'll start this by saying I really don't like bugs. I'm OK with the bug about to be discussed, by they are a little too similar to my nemesis, the cockroach.

So, here's the deal.

Reagan loves to eat june bugs.

He loves to chase them, scratch them, smash them, roll in them, chomp them out of the air, and EAT them. Sitting outside with me while I'm raining is like a feast to him. He loves them best alive, when they cling to his muzzle, because then he gets to fling them into the air… Continue
